Outside was pitch black and chilly, even though the night was still. The school loomed up high above our heads, looking like a sleeping giant. I swear if we had stayed any longer it would have knelt down and swallowed us whole.
"Oi, pay more attention." Mina hissed at me, the light from the torch slicing through my vision.
"Ow, Mina!" I covered my eyes against the harsh beam. "Careful where your shinning that thing."
"Oh, sorry."
It was only me and Mina out in the darkness in school grounds. Momo had sharply refused any involvement in what we were doing and she went to join the card game instead. Ochako said she'd rather not go outside because she didn't want to get her pyjamas dirty but demanded that we told her every detail when we returned. So, Mina pulled me out on our own.
"So, what's the plan now?" I asked staring into the darkness of the hallway though the window.
"Well, our classroom's right there, right?" She pointed a little to the left from where we were peering in. "I'm just gonna see whether there are any open windows along the hall."
I watched her put the torch in her mouth and begin to make her way down the wall, pulling each window as she came to it. After a few minutes of her window tugging I began to speak.
"Mina." I leaned on the building. "There's not going to be a window open. The security on the school should-"
A click interrupted me and Mina let out soft shout. "Hah! Open!"
Surprised, and a little peeved that it had opened on that moment, I wandered over to where she was standing. As I stopped beside her, she knelt on the ground on one knee and looked up at me. "Step up."
I glanced at her doubtfully. "You sure."
"Yeah, I'm sure. I'm actually pretty sturdy for a girl." She grinned. "And I don't mind if it means you're getting somewhere with you crush."
"Shut-up!"
As I stepped up gently on her leg, I made sure to ruffle her hair on the way passed before climbing through the opening.
"Oi!" I heard her protest playfully as my feet touched the ground.
The inside of the school was just as eerie and silent as the outside. I felt like every step I took down the hallway was loud enough to wake everyone in the dorm. I stopped and turned to see that Mina had not got into the hallway. I glanced out at her and called out softly. "Mina, you coming?"
Her head was turned to look out the way we came. "I think I heard something." she whispered. "You keep going, I'll keep a look out."
My nerves were already on edge by this point and the fact that that I couldn't see anything outside wasn't helping. I followed Mina's orders and backed up into the hallway and entered the classroom, just able to see the label on the sign.
I tried to let my eyes adjust to the darkness inside the classroom so I wouldn't trip or fall on anything. As soon as I could locate each object vaguely in the room, I began to make my way through the desks towards Bakugou's.
Even though I could still hardly see the things around me, I just say the outline of something laying on the desk. When I picked it up, I quickly realised that it was an envelope. It was sealed.
In the darkness, I could see that there was something written on it but I couldn't quite make out what it said. I peered closer at it narrowing, my eyes as I tried to read it. K-ka. Ki-. . .
I heard the footstep in the hallway too late and I whipped my head around just in time to see a shadowed figure walked into the room.
"Shitty-Hair?!" I found myself meeting the red gaze of Bakugou, standing shocked in the doorway.
As I stood frozen to the spot, his eyes found the letter in my hands and he started towards me.
"Don't read that!" He shouted taking huge steps towards me. "Give it to me!"
I jumped back with a start and held it up behind me. "Why don't you want me to read it?!" I asked struggling to keep him back.
He was tried to reach behind me, his wide chest pushing against me as he grabbed at the envelope. "It's got nothing to do with you, bastard!"
I pushed him back while attempting to keep my balance. He was leaning quite heavily on me already and his hand was grasping the arm that held the letter.
"Bakugou, just tell me what's going on!" I said desperately. "I can help you work it out if you want!"
"I said no!!" He growled. "Now just fricking let go, you dick!"
Then I realised I could see Bakugou properly. As quick as I could I glanced back at the envelope and read what was written on the paper.
I immediately let my guard down in shock. The letter was ripped from my hand and Bakugou backed away from me, grasping it in both hands so hard the paper was crinkling.
And then we saw the light. A torch beam lit the hallway up and a deep male voice echoed into the classroom. "Is somebody there?"
I met Bakugou's gaze and saw that he too was in panic. I could only think of one thing to do.
"Come with me, now!"
The teacher reached the classroom in a matter of moments. We held our breaths where we hid.
Under the teacher's desk.
A/N: I loved writing this chapter and the next one. It was just fun. 'His wide chest chest pushing against me'. Loved the fact I thought of that and put it in.
*sigh* Life is currently boring, okay? Some good Boy x boy keeps me going.
