November is here, finally. Chole is eager that prom is just a few weeks away. I, however, have been cramming some studying in for the quarterlies. I totally spaced that Gaven had a football game so I forgot to go and support him. I realized that sports were the things that kept Gaven and me linked together, the only thing holding us so that we don't fall apart.

But since I have been studying nonstop for quarterlies, I haven't been to one of Gaven's football games ever since the season started. The Tigers started in October, but I missed his games because of family things. Now that the quarterlies are around the corner, that's now another thing piled onto my plate. Since I haven't been to one of Gaven's games, I knew he would freak out and yell at me and make a scene. Therefore, I haven't answered his calls, texts, and emails.

It was a crappy day. Rain came tumbling down on everyone as they hustled to get into the building. Once I was in, he just cracked about my absence. He was like a bomb that exploded in my face for the world to see. I was at my locker, gathering my books for first and second period, and I see a large hand that slammed my locker door just as I was about to grab my Chemistry binder.

"What the—" I started, but then realized that Gaven was standing over me. I quickly stared at my shoes.

"What the hell?" Gaven fumed. "Why weren't you at my football games? Huh? Were you too busy for me? Did you get my texts? Did you even glance at the caller ID?"

"Gaven," I whispered. "Let's not do this here."

A crowd started to form around us. "Well you haven't been in contact with me for, oh I don't know, a month. So this was the only way I could do it."

"I am just busy—"

"Just busy? That's it? For a month you were just busy." Gaven rambled furiously. "Do you realize that you missed more than six of my games? Six. And I haven't missed a single lacrosse game of yours? If you're not going to support me and what I do, then you might as well put a sign on your forehead that says, 'Screw you.'"

"No Gaven," I replied desperately. "That's not the case at all. I've just been busy with studying and family stuff."

"Studying," Gaven said slowly. "You missed all of my football games just studying? Can't you just take a break once in a while to support your boyfriend?"

Suddenly, I became flustered. "You know, not everything is about you okay? Sometimes people need a break from socializing and a break from their twisted schedule and just relax. Some people have their own lives to tend to. The world doesn't just revolve around you."

Gaven just stared at me, shocked. I was stunned myself. I never talked back to Gaven like that. I usually just let people step on me, but not anymore.

"Maybe that's what we need," Gaven whispered.

"What?"

"Maybe we need to take a break for a while," Gaven explained in a hushed tone. Before I could reply, he sulked away. The crowd then evaporated, everyone now talking about Gaven and me.

I then took a detour to the bathroom, locked myself in a stall, and let the tears stream down my face.
