Before the outbreak a few months back Charlotte was with her neighbors, Mrs. Barkley, since her parents went on a trip to have some time for themselves since it had been so long but the day one of those... Things got inside of her house it had almost gotten the girl but the woman sacrificed herself then told Charlotte to run along with to find nice people, now the young girl was walking down the street holding her screwdriver in case she needed to use it while she was getting closer to a gas station. 'Maybe I can find some food!' Charlotte thought to herself smiling a bit once she made it she carefully pushed open the door she made her way inside she didn't want to risk anything so she stayed quiet as she looked down to see a beat up backpack, picking it up and making her way down the isles she began to grab whatever she could without any hesitation she knew that it was bad to take stuff that wasn't yours but she didn't know what else to do. Things got quiet since the outbreak. Really quiet. You couldn't hear cars driving around to get their destination, couldn't hear the constant chatter or loud music people would play on their boomboxes. To Keith's luck, he liked the quiet, but didn't like the outcome of how it came to be so quiet. Now he was walking down the road, away from where he was originally camping at the find more food and supplies that might be needed. Keith glanced from side to side, seeing a gas station not too far that he wasn't checked yet. Due to how small it was, he assumed it had already been went through a long time ago and was debating if he should waste time checking or not. Charlotte zipped up the backpack up and put it on though it felt a bit heavy she didn't mind, quietly making her way out of the gas station she began to make her way to what she called her "hide out" it was actually more like a tree house but it wasn't too big it was in a tall oak tree that looked pretty old. How she found it was actually when it was around a week into the apocalypse kids who had it owners seemed to be gone leaving the small fortress completely empty there was some supplies she had needed were gone though she did like sleeping in the sleeping bag and sitting on one of the branches, now on the road once again the eight year old noticed a house near by it looked better then her tree house she made her way to it with a small smile on her face but before she knew it she was on the ground fighting against a walker. It kept biting the air inching closer though it had no arms it was dangerous never the less while the little girl could only do was cry out for help hoping that anyone would hear as tears rolled down her cheek. Deciding that it would be a waist of time to check, he continued on down the road. Oh what would he give for an iPod and earbuds right about now. For any type of machine that played music. Keith was drawn out of his thoughts when he heard small cries nearby, but not too close. He came to a stop, making sure it wasn't just something else. Still being able to hear the small cries and the wind that past his ear, he debated on if he should go and look or just leave them be. He had been too wary when it came to groups. Keith made of his mind and began to walking in the direction of the small cries. His walk turned into a jog, before turning into a sprint. He began nearing what looked like a small tree house, looking down to see the armless corpse pining a small girl. Being quick with his actions, he pulled the walking corpse from behind and ending its second life with a knife to the head, letting it collapse beside his feet. Charlotte looked up at Keith with some of the walkers blood on her face as she crawled back panicking feeling more tears roll down her cheeks worried if the male that towered over her would hurt her and take all of her supplies. "P-please... Y-you can have m-my stuff I-I'm sorry!" She pleaded. Keith let out a small breath, looking toward the small child as she crawled further away. At first he was slightly confused, more confused about why a child was out by herself. "I'm not here for your stuff.." He frowned, putting away his knife away to try and be less frightening if that was even possible. Charlotte stopped moving backwards to wipe her eyes while she looked up at Keith with her round brown eyes staring into the males dark blue/violet eyes. "Y-you a-aren't?" She sounded surprised in a way. "No." Keith shook his head at the girl, bending down as he glanced around the surrounding area. "What are you doing out here by yourself?" The raven haired male asked the young girl. "I-I just needed some s-stuff do you n-need somewhere to stay?" Slowly standing up while the girl made her way to the ravenette now only a few feet apart from him still a bit cautious around him oddly feeling safe around him. Keith tilted his head to the side, frowning slightly at the girl's response . It isn't right for a girl so young to be surviving out on her own. "I do, is there anyone here with you?" He asked. He glanced around the area again, looking for someone else that could be surviving here with her. Charlotte shyly shook her head as she slowly looked down at the ground nervously rubbing her arm as she felt the worry grow more in her stomach. "N-no sir, it's only me I-I stay in a tree house the monsters can't climb." She said trying her hardest to not stutter breaking a rule her parents told her 'Don't talk to strangers.' But he must be a good stranger, right? He did save her from the monster that tried to make her turn.
