——————————————————————Third Person P.O.V
"As of last week, July 13th, 2029, 11 people were found dead. The connections between the victims are still unknown, however the police say they have strong notion that 3 of the 11 had something to do with the murder of Elyria Thompson. The killer has still not yet been determined, but several suspicions lead to a man by the name of John D. Thompson. We will get back to you on this matter as soon a there has been further investigation."
A boy the age of 17 with tousled raven hair and striking blue eyes, pressed pause on the iPhone they were watching the old news report on. "Sooo... who do you think it is?" he asked, looking over at his friend with a huge teasing smile.
"John, really?" A 17 year old girl with hazel brown hair to match her eyes looked at her dramatic friend and rolled her eyes, clearly already fed up with him.
"What do you mean, 'John really?', Jessica?!" He exclaimed, offended. "This news report was live on television a year ago today. He still hasn't been caught. I mean, it's like he literally disappeared! And, to top it off, ever since that day multiple animal carcasses have been found in the area. Some even in this cabin. I bet we'll see some when we take a walk! He had to be like a.... vengeful ghost, or.... a demon! Oh! And even better, today's Friday the 13th, so what better day to go?" James began to raise his voice as he started getting more and more excited, waving his hands around while he talked like a crazy person.
"Ok, fine, I'll humour you for now. I think it could be.... maybe a ghost doing the more recent killings?" Jessica shrugged, just trying to get her crazy friend off her back.
"Excuse me?! Hold on! Nobody told me we're in a murder cabin!" An 18 year old girl named Tiana exclaimed. Standing up with a huff, she walked around the back of the couch to slap the back of James' head.
"Ow!" He whined while their other two friends Lina and Ace snickered quietly at his pain.
These five, adventure seeking teenagers had decided to rent out a cabin for just a few days. This specific cabin was located close to a very small town named Telkwa, with only a population of 250 people. The town of Telkwa was in the more northern part of Canada, beautiful large grassy mountains and forests surrounding it.
The teens had gone to the cabin at the base of a specific mountain called Mount K9, notorious for its harsh weather conditions the higher you climb.
James thought a camping trip was the best way to try and solve the strange mysteries that happened around the mountain, and as a result, he somehow convinced his friends to come with him.
As the sun was setting, an excited James dragged along an annoyed Jessica, Tiana, and Ace with him into the woods, equipped with flashlights and cameras. They decided to leave Lina at the cabin by herself, since she was trying to go to sleep and just didn't want to leave.
"James, this is fucking dumb. We should've just stayed in the cabin with Lina..." he looked around the forest tentatively, "It's cold... and really dark..." Ace complained, hoping to convince everyone to go back.
"Aweeee, someone's scared and wants their mommy!" Tiana teased Ace, wrapping her arms around herself and rocking back and forth, while mimicking a pouty face.
Jessica laughed and turned her head to look back at the two, "Come on Tiana, ease up on Ace. He is the youngest after all." She snickered while Ace rolled his eyes and glared at the two girls.
"But seriously, I think we should head back now. It's already been half an hour, Lina's probably worrying about us by now. James?" Jessica said trying to get her friend's attention, as he started to speed up his walk pace, searching for anything even remotely mysterious.
"We haven't found anything yet though!" he complained, stopping for a second so the others could catch up. "I'm sure Lina will be fine on her own." He reasoned.
"James, come on. You know how Lina gets. She's kinda like our shy.... den mother.... thing." Ace tried to explain.
James rolled his eyes. "Fiiiine, I guess we can head back now. We did get pretty far away from the cabin." He sighed in defeat.
As they turned around to head back to the cabin, they heard the bushes behind them rustle loudly, making everyone stop in their tracks and listen. A few seconds later, a pained moan sounded from the bushes that were rustling and so they all whipped around to see sticks and twigs being thrown out from behind the bushes in every direction. After what seemed like the end of it, two gleaming yellow eyes stared at them before immediately disappearing.
And then there was silence.
"Uhhh... a-am I high, or did you guys see some glowing eyes too?" Ace asked slowly.
"Well if you're high, then I think I might be too. What the hell was that?!" Tiana whisper-shouted.
As they all held their breath, a little girl looking to around the age of 7 emerged from the bushes, brushing small sticks and leaves off her dress. She looked up at the teens with an innocent gaze and tilted her head. The teenagers all held closer together in defence, and looked at her with confusion.
The girl had dirty blonde hair tied into two pigtails at the sides of her head, and very fair skin. She wore a dress that stopped a little bit above her knees, the colour a pale blue with a white apron over top of it and a small white bow at the back. On her feet were tiny red flats, and knee high white laced socks.
Jessica made eye contact with James and nodded her head towards the little girl, knowing that everyone else was too cautious to speak to her.
James gulped and crouched down a little to be more at eye level with the girl.
"Are you lost.... child?" He asked shakily.
