-The Next Day, 11:39 AM

Carmen blocked her eyes from the flashing lights from the cameras with her hand as forensics took photos of the three corpses lying on a bedroom floor. It was a family of three. A mother, a son, and a daughter. The mother was Caucasian and her daughter and son were bi-racial. They were lying face down next to each other. They were all blindfolded and had their arms behind their backs with their hands duck taped. They were all shot execution style. The little girl had her pants and panties down her ankles, with her butt cheeks exposed. Carmen swallowed hard and looked down. Seeing certain crimes sometimes made her emotional. Sometimes she hated her job when it made her feel that way. She lifted her eyes and fought back tears.

She walked closer to the lifeless bodies and kneeled down to examine their bodies more. She looked at the mother first. Her golden locks were disheveled and long. Her green eyes had redness in their pupils. Her lips were blue too. Her mouth was slightly opened with dry blood on the crack of her lip. Carmen couldn't pull her eyes away from hers. Her eyes bored into hers for what seemed like forever. Carmen took a deep breath and nodded her head. She then turned her eyes over to the kids. They had to be about 10 or 11 years old. That made her think about her little sister. What if one of them would have been her?

The little girl had the same eyes as her mother. Her lips were blue and her hair was pulled back in a ponytail with some of her curls pressed against her face. Carmen bit down on her lip hardly and held back tears again. She knew that the little girl was sexually assaulted because she was the only one with her pants down. Her breathing grew shivery as she shook her head over and over. She started to feel sick as she held on to her stomach. She placed her hand over her mouth and ran out of the bedroom.

"Hey, hey Carmen." Omar yelled while seeing her run past him and five policemen that he was getting information from. She ran for the front door that was opened and began regurgitating in the grass nearby the doorsteps of the home. "Damn, Carmen. Are you okay?" He asked while shoving his mini notebook and pen in his pocket. Carmen looked over her shoulder and saw that it was Omar. Omar is a detective that works in the same precinct as her. She looked away and began regurgitating again. "Fuck!" He shouted while running towards her. After Carmen was done she panted and placed her hands on both her knees and spit out the bad taste that was in her mouth. "Here, take this." Omar said handing her his tie. "Thanks." She said weakly while wiping her lips. "What do we have? Did we find anything?" Omar sighed and shook his head. "No. Whoever this person was cleaned their tracks. There are so signs of forced entry. No footprints. No fingerprints. We are going to test the victims fingerprints and run a rape kit to see if we can find something. But, right now we have nothing. No one saw or heard anything either. We don't even have any eye witnesses."

"Fuck. Are you serious O?" Carmen screeched while getting angry. Omar stretched his lips and nodded. "Afraid so CJ." He called her that as a nickname since her name is Carmen Joy. She went back to her maiden name Joy once her divorce was finalized. She used to be Carmen Almanzar. She sighed and looked down while shaking her head. "I want to find the motherfucker that did this. Did you see that little girl pants down? Whoever did this shit is sick! And I want their ass!" She stressed while clenching her teeth in between sentences, and pointing her finger at him. "Who would, wh-why would someone do something like this?" She asked brokenly. Omar just looked at her and stood speechless. She realized that she was taking what happened too personally. Whenever she got that way she couldn't keep her head in the game.

She took a deep breath and shook her head in regret. "O, I-I'm sorry. I know I shouldn't take this too personally. But.. this is sad. The victims had to have known their killer. You said there were no forced entries right?" Omar nodded and swallowed hard. Carmen looked away and gazed deeply at a police squads car that had blaring lights above. "Was she ever married?" - "Yes. She is divorced and has been for three years." - "Did she have a boyfriend? Was she dating?" - "Not sure yet. Right now we are trying to track down her ex-husband. We will need to speak to him." - "Good. That's a start." Omar smiled and placed his hand on her shoulder. She smiled faintly and looked down. "You must be hungry? Wanna go grab some food." She lifted her eyes and looked at him.
