“I can’t believe it. How can he just die?” sighed Siena. “I know” I replied quietly. My best friend Siena and I found out at an early hour this morning, that our parents close friend Henry had passed away. Siena and I never really knew Henry, but he was always urging us to visit him in Oregon, which was hard to acquire because we lived in California.

Siena and I met through our parents, they are hunters who worked alongside Henry. We aren’t really sure exactly what they hunt but they are always out to late hours in the night or early hours in the morning. We heard the phone ring, “Can you grab that Bella?” asked Siena. I leaned over the bed and grabbed the phone. “Hello? Oh, hi Mum . . . . sure, I will let her know, thanks mum, bye. “Ummmm, Siena?” I mumbled. “Apparently our parents have organised for us to go to Henry’s funeral in two days”. “What?” shrieked Siena. “That’s like . . . Saturday?” “I know, I know, I don’t really know him either but we probably should pay our respects”. “I suppose” sighed Siena.

Two days later

“How long does it take to get to Oregon from here?” asked Siena, putting her suitcase on the conveyer belt. “Only half an hour I think”. “That’s good, I tend to get plane sick after long periods of time in the air” laughed Siena. After I had put my suitcase on the conveyer belt, we went through customs then went to sit on the chairs outside gate 4 at the Californian Airport. Our flight was called to board, so Siena and I sprang up out of our seats, just wanting to get this flight over and done with. Our parents our quite rich so we found our seats at the front of the plane, in business class. We sat down and enjoyed an exciting episode of Gossip Girl. As the plane began to descend, I suddenly worried about what it was going to be like in Oregon, Siena and I only left school a year ago and haven’t done much travelling. “It’s going to be fine” smiled Siena, practically reading my mind.

I smiled back. We got off the plane and saw a man with a sign which stated our names. We walked with the man to the conveyer belt to collect our suitcases and then hopped in the taxi on our way to Henry’s house . . . House was an understatement, Mansion would have been the appropriate word. As Siena and I walked up to the double front door, my heart started thumping. I stopped in my tracks, I could sense something threatening about this place, I have always had some sort of a sixth sense. Siena looked back at me, she knew something was up “what’s wrong Bella?” “nothing, it’s fine” I replied. So we continued walking.

Henry’s housekeeper Maria opened the door, smiled at us and showed us to our rooms. They were amazing. They both had a long window at the end of the room which replaced a whole wall, they also included a princess-like four post bed with silk curtains and a wooden table in the corner. Although it was big, it felt lonely, the halls were empty, only three rooms were occupied and you could hear nothing but the breeze from outside of the house. I heard Siena walking from her room towards mine. “What do you think?” she asked cautiously. “spacious” I sighed slowly. At that moment the housekeeper Maria began walking up the stairs towards our rooms, Siena and I just stood there, waiting for her. “Girls” she said quietly. “The funeral will be held outside the house tomorrow morning at 10:00. Then drinks and food will be shared until later in evening. It was already 7:30, so Siena and I went into the kitchen where dinner was being served. “I’m sorry girls, but Harry and Louis could not make it tonight” said the woman. Siena and I looked at each other completely oblivious as to who Harry and Louis were. We thanked Maria for dinner and went up to our rooms. At around midnight I woke up, starting to feel that strange feeling again. I turned the bedside lamp on and looked out the window which was at the end of the room. I could have sworn that two faces were looking at me but I thought I was just imagining things, since I had such a vivid imagination.
