Calla Frost
“Where the hell are we gonna meet again?” I wondered aloud for the hundredth time.
“You do know about the map inside your jacket, right?”
Oh yeah! I do have a map!
I reached inside my leather jacket and took out Stella’s map. I peered at my friend’s specially made map.
“Well, it says here, ‘at the black and white dock house’. Pshh, can’t they be more specific?!?” I shouted, a lot of people turned to look at me for shouting with no apparent reason.
“Sorry” my subconscious tells them, but me…
“What the fuck are you looking at?!” and with that, they all stopped looking at me and went back to their own business.
“Quite a temper, Miss Frost.” The voice made my skin crawl.
Well, if it isn’t my least favorite pig, Olivia Fatata, a middle aged woman with rust colored hair pulled back tightly with a ponytail and wore a black dress. Black does not look flattering on her.
“Miss Fatata.” I acknowledged her, emphasizing her last name.
“Please, Oli if you must.” She said with that annoying singsong voice.
“Oh, okay. Is there anything you need Oli?” I think Fatty Oli would be better.
“In fact there is.” Oh great, just great, let’s just hope she gives you some Helix. “Can you give this to Mr. Brooks for me? I can’t go to work today. I have this thing to do for his wife.”
Oh his wife, Ebony Black- I mean Brooks. Ah, yes, I know her too well, lovely lady with a tar black soul as dark as her. She might as well come from the depths of hell. I don’t even understand why people don’t see her true colors. They praise and worship her like a goddess. Maybe it’s because they’re scared. Well, who isn’t?
“Here,” she dumped a black box labeled “Helixeraphir” in cursive. Sweet!
“Sure Miss Oli. I’ll give it to Mrs. Brooks.” Ha, after a hundred years.
“Thank you darling, if you’ll excuse me, I have an errand to attend to.”
“Sure thing. Goodbye.” I smiled sweetly because I meant it. That goodbye is for good cause I’m out of this hell-hole
I watched her drive away before I went back to searching for the black and white dock house.
Almost everything here is black and white. The only other color is grey. The trees? Stupid scientists developed them to make them black and white. Clever? Nah, I’d say they’re stupid.
I reached the end of the industrial part of the city. Finally there’s another color at the far end. I can finally see the sun. Just a little more and we’ll be free.
Did I mention that that little more consists of 12 more black and white dock houses waiting to be searched? Minus 7 if I don’t count the industrial ones.
Well, this is going to be a long search.
The map, you idiot.
