A/N: I probably won't be updating my latest book for a while since I just haven't found the inspiration to continue with it. So, I've decided to start with a fresh story.

Please enjoy and I would love some feedback!!!

Chapter 1

"But I'm not in the mood to go to a party right now!" I whine childishly at my best friend as she finishes my makeup.

"You're never in the mood to go to a party! Just give this one a chance." She replies, pointing the mascara wand at me with an eyebrow raised.

I take the wand and screw it back onto the bottle, "Fine. But if you leave me for more than five minutes, I will dump a whole bottle of vodka on you." I warn.

She laughs halfheartedly, knowing that my threat was very much real, and I would likely do it, "I'm honestly surprised you even know what vodka is, Charles."

I roll my eyes, "Just because I've never been to a high school party before doesn't mean I don't know what alcohol is." I point out.

She raises her hands in surrender, "Okay okay," she looks at the time on her phone, "Hurry up! We need to get going!" She squeals excitedly at me and takes my wrist, pulling me through her house and into her car in less than a minute.

I look at myself in the rearview mirror of Mia's nice Mercedes, touching up my light colored makeup and my long blonde hair.

"Relax girl, you look amazing." She says to me, noticing how I keep trying to touch up my already perfect makeup, thanks to her.

I pull at my short denim shorts and adjust the tight straps of my cropped tank top, why did Mia have to give me the tightest clothes she owned?

I take a deep breath as we pull up to the already already booming party. What was I to expect? This was one of the biggest parties of the year, The End of Summer Party was something the whole of my small town knew about. Every year at the end of the summer, all of the Juniors and Seniors of California Berkeley High school we're invited. There was alcohol- lots of it, and dancing- not the best kind either. Although the parents of Berkeley and practically every other civilian knew about the drinking and about how many people lost their virginity at the party, they did absolutely nothing to stop it. In fact, they encouraged it. It was tradition after all, its happened every year since I don't know how long.

This year, it was being held at Jake Tailors house, he was from one of the wealthiest families in town. His dad owned a famous car company and his mom was a lawyer, so as you can imagine, his house was HUGE.

I take a deep breath as we pull up to the house, getting out of the car you could already hear "Hot Girl Bummer" by Blackbear playing inside.

Mia grabs my hand and squeals as we walk up the drive. I was nervous to say the least. As we walk inside the music is pounding in my ears. Mia lets go of my hand an I follow her to where a crowd has formed around a few of people who were dancing. You could tell it was the schools dance team just by the fact Chelsea Wills was in the middle, dancing like her life depended on it.

The song ends and the crowd cheers before dispersing to go do god knows what.

Red cups are strewn all around the house, the air thick with the smell of sweat and beer. Strobe lights were flashing purple and green being the only source of light. In every corner there were bodies grinding against each other and people stumbling over one another, trying to dance.

"Imma go get us some drinks!" Mia yells in my ear over the loud music.

"I already told you I don't dr-" I try to explain once again but she cuts me off.

"I'll be back soon!" She yells over her shoulder.

Knowing there's no use in arguing I walk over to an empty corner of the packed living room and lean against it, bored out of my mind.

The bass is thumping against my skull, giving me a pounding headache.

If the music wasn't so loud maybe I actually might enjoy it.

I push myself off of the cream colored wall and walk over to the open sliding doors that leads to the backyard. A pool sits in the middle of the yard, a few people have jumped in and are trying to have a chicken fight. Other people are standing around with red cups and cigarettes in their hands, drinking god knows what and smoking god knows what.

I stand alone and lean against the fence, trying to get some fresh air before I go back inside to find my friend.

After a few moments I walk back into the house and into the kitchen where there was a makeshift bar with all kinds of different alcohols. Looking around I couldn't find Mia.

I walk around the house for a little bit but to no avail.

Where is she?

I walk up the stairs and decide to check the bedrooms.

"Let's hope I don't regret this." I mumble to myself, there is no telling what kind of things go on in these rooms.

The first couple are locked, but to my luck, the third room isn't.

Walking in my eyes widen in horror. There Mia is, but she's not alone. Her eyes are fear stricken and she backed up against a wall, here head turned to try and create distance between her and the mystery drunk.

"Please let me go!" She tries to push the guy off of her but he stays put.

His hands slide up her thighs and he tries to unbuckle her shorts.

I realize that I have just been standing there and I need to do something.

"Hey! Get away from her!" I yell, walking over to the man and pulling at his arm to try and pry him away from my friend.

He growls and shoves his arm away from me, elbowing me in the nose in the process.

I put my hand up to now bleeding nose and suddenly all I can see is red. I kick the dude in the groin and start punching his handsome face.

"Touch her again! I dare you!" I scream, punching harder as Mia lays curled up in a ball, tears streaming down her face.

The guy has a busted lip and bruises have already started forming around his right eye and his cheeks. His nose is bleeding and twisted, most likely broken. I kick his ribs and only stop when I hear a crack. oops. Looks like he has a broken rib too.

He groans in pain and stumbles out of the room when I finally decide he has enough.

I walk over to Mia and sit beside her, rubbing her back gently as she whimpers and rocks herself back and forth.

"Hey, its okay. You're safe now. He won't hurt you anymore." I sooth.

"T-thanks. If you hadn't c-come in, I d-don't know what w-would have happened."

I just nod in response and help her to her shaking feet, "Come on, we should probably head home."

She nods in agreement and we make our way through the party and to her car. We weren't even there for an hour and my best friend almost got raped.

I guess now I have an even better reason to never come to another party.

A/N: This is more of a "hook" chapter. The real "love story" starts in Chapter 2. This is more for you to get to know what kind of situations the main character gets in and what some of the characters are like.

Just a hint: it also kind of foreshadows what might happen later on in the book...

Hope you enjoy the rest of the book
