Christine's pov

I woke up alone in my bed. That has never happened before because Erik likes to watch me sleep but I suppose after all the horrible things that's has happened, it'd understandable  if he wants to walk away from me. I know I need to wake up from this nightmare and come back to reality, after all I'm not the only one who's lost a son.

I put on my long white night gown and walked out of the bedroom and into the parlor where the children were sitting eating their breakfast. Our housemaid Nancy came up to me, trying to act as everything was normal.

"Good morning ma'm, what would you like for breakfast?" She asked me kindly.

"Just some tea and toast thank you"

I walked over to my children trying desperately to put on a smile. They were quiet and afraid to look at me. Charlotte was the only one speaking. "Are you going to cry again mommy?"

I took my daughters hand gently. "No I promise you I won't cry anymore."

We ate together in peace, my eyes looking for Erik. Why is he not here?

"Have you seen your father?"

"No mommy"

Strange. I wonder where he is? I hope he's alright.

Erik's pov

I sat on the edge of the bed, buttoning up my white shirt. I looked at her as she began to stare in her sleep, making sounds as she was ready to get up. She opened her eyes and smiled at me. But I couldn't smile back.

I put on my black pants, getting up as I did so I looked over at her again. She was sitting up now. The white sheets covering her breasts, I finished getting dressed looking at her. She reached out her hand as I took it I kissed her passionately on her soft lips. I'm not thinking with my brain, in fact I'm not thinking at all and it feels good not to think.

"I must go"

"I know, I missed this and you"

I pulled away from her embrace, feeling guilty. What have I done?

"I know what your thinking, I understand how could she ever forgive you?"

"She won't because I won't tell her"

She got dressed and pulled me against her. "There is something I want to show you" confused I followed her. Upstairs, in a room was a beautiful little girl. Esmeralda and I were both standing in the doorway. What she said next made me lose my balance.

"Say hello to your daughter, Rebecca."
