My name is Claire Hobbson, I'm a pretty average 16 year old teenage girl, I'm about 5'5 and only 120 lbs, I have dirty blonde hair, and have light blue eyes . The only thing interesting in my life that happened was when I was 7, my parents died in a tragic car crash, we had rolled into a ditch after being hit by a drowsy Semi driver.
I was in the hospital for a week, with only minor injuries. Lucky me, huh. My mom died immediately after being hit head on by the Semi, my dad struggled for about two days before finally crossing over. I was placed with my aunt Elizabeth, while she nice and all, she was never home so I pretty much got the house by myself.Anyway, enough depressing background.
Today was the last day of school and I couldn't wait for summer to start, my freind Evelyn and I had plans to sleep over at my place after school. We both loved watching YouTube, especially PewDiePie, Markiplier, Jacksepticeye, and Moesargi.
"Claire, are you ready?" Evelyn asked. 'I guess I didn't hear the bell ring,' I thought to myself. "Yeah, just give me a sec," I replied back as I packed the rest of my stuff off of my desk. "Come on slow poke, we gotta go."
Okay so Evelyn was one of those super excited people, always bouncing around and super outing going, she was an extrovert and I was an introvert. None the less I loved her, she and I go way back, even before my parents death, she was always there for me. "Okay I'm good let's go," I said as we started for the exit of the school.Once we arrived at my aunts house, which was a dark red velvet color and had two stories. We headed inside and got stuff out such as pillows and blankets for the sleep over. "Hey wanna watch some YouTube?" Evelyn asked after we had setup everything. "Sure." I grabbed the remote and turned on the T.V, switching it to the YouTube app. "Let's watch that one," Evelyn points at one of the first videos. It read ' The ghost paper challenge.' "What's that?" I asked " I don't actually know myself," she replied. I clicked the video and we watched it.
When the video ended, I got to thinking, 'if I could contact the demon of the door, would i be able to ask to see my parents again?' Snapping me out of my thoughts Evelyn stated, " we should try that." I wondered why she wanted to, 'maybe just for the excitement' I thought. "Well i mean we have the supplies here, but are you sure?" I asked. "Yes, I'm sure Claire, it would be fun, and besides what if it actually works?" "Alright, fine but if it doesn't work, then you owe me 20 bucks." "Fine, then when it does work, you'll have to give me 20 bucks." "Deal," we both exclaim at the same time, both with a cheeky grin.
We sat at the washroom door with a piece of paper, a marker and a candle as our only light source. "Okay, your doing all the ritual stuff, I'm not going to be the one that gets haunted if it actually works," Evelyn remarked. "I don't see how that's fair, why should I have a demon following me around?" "I don't know it just seems, fitting is all. I don't know don't look at me, I just don't want one on my ass," she said getting all defensive. 'Like I would want one of those damn things on my ass either,' I thought to myself as I slightly glared at her. "Um Claire, didn't the rules say that only one of us could do it?" "Actually you might be right, let me look it up real quick." I looked at the article we used for the rules on the web. "Yep, right there it says 'If there are more than one player, the spirit of the door will not speak".' Crap." "So Claire, you have fun, but you better tell me if it actually works or not, and no lying," she playfully glared at me. "Fine, I promise I won't lie, but why do I have to do it?" "Like I already said, it some how seems right." 'The hell was that supposed to mean? 'It feels right.' my ass' I thought foully to myself.
She got up and left me to it. 'Okay, firsts things first.' I place the marker on the piece of paper and make sure it can fit under the door. Then I knocked on the door three times, and chanted, "Spirit of the door, I welcome you; make yourself present and come through. Spirit of the door, I welcome you; make yourself present and come through. Spirit of the door, I welcome you; make yourself present and come through." As I finished the candle flickered, and the air around me became thick and eerie. I already knew what my first question would be. I then took the marker, asking my first question, I wrote, 'Is it possible to see my parents again?' Doing what the rules had said, I set the paper, and the marker, half way under the door, and waited. Not even thirty seconds later, the paper along with the marker slowly slid the rest of the way under the door, as if someone, or something, had dragged it to the other side. 'Now that was creepy,' I thought to myself waiting for the paper to return. Oh yeah did I forget to mention that all the lights in the house were turned off and the only light was the one illuminating off the candle? Yeah it just adds to the creepiness that infiltrated the air.
Just then the paper and marker are pushed back half way under the door again. I take a hold of the paper and drag it back. What I saw shocked me, not only because 'it' had actually written a reply, but because that wasn't the reply that I was expecting. The hand writing looked all squiggly and lightly written, like a preschooler had written it. On the paper it had said 'yes' " Yes? what do you mean yes?" I said out loud and realized that I had to write a reply back, but I had to be careful, the game only allows three questions, and I have already used one. 'What do I have to do?' I placed it back half way under the door, once again it slowly slid under the door. This time the response was quicker, I grabbed it and read 'All you have to do is say yes.' ' What kind of answer was that? Should I trust a demon? what if its a trick?' Then another voice came in the back of my head. 'But its our parents.' I couldn't help but give in, I mean, they were my parents, I would give or risk anything just to see them again. I had decided.
Grabbing the marker i wrote back, 'Will I be able to communicate as well?' I didn't even get a chance to set it half way before it was harshly and quickly dragged back. I drew back in shock, none of the other times had been like that, the paper was slowly pulled through, not harshly. It was sent back just as quick as last time, except the handwriting was even more scribbled than it used to be. ' Yes, now your turn......yes......or.......no.' I quickly yelled a 'yes' through the door. The air became even thicker than it was before, as the screeching of the slowly opening washroom door, the one i had been using to communicate with the demon, echoed through the dark, eerie halls of the almost empty house.
Backing away I look up with slight fear in my eyes.
