Violet parked her car just outside of Dennys. It was about 9 in the morning and usually she wasn't up this early but she didn't have any classes today. She sighed to herself. This was it. Violet hadn't seen Edwin in a few years and she was just praying that when she did see him, no old feelings would resurface.

She got out the car and walked up to the front door of the breakfast place and immediately spotted Edwin's black curly hair. Violet couldn't contain the smile on her face as she walked inside. Edwin looked up from his phone and cheesed. He stood up and hesitantly brought her into a quick hug.

"How've you been?" he asked after letting her go. They both sat down.

"Could be better y'know?" Violet replied and Edwin smiled. "Yeah, for sure."

Violet chuckled breathily and leaned back in her chair. "I see you're living your life though."

She noticed the change in how he dressed, the way he spoke and even how he smelled. But she couldn't exactly decide if it was a good different yet.

Edwin's smile twitched a bit as he looked down at his hands. He sighed. "I'm really sorry Vee. For everything. Your family took my family in when we didn't have anywhere else to go. You did so much for me. You were the one to tell me that Simon Cowell was even holding auditions. And I just left you."

Violet slowly nodded. "Well. At least you're finally seeing the error of your ways."

"I've always known I was in the wrong."

"But you couldn't pick up the phone and call me because? Don't get me ring, I could've tried a little harder too but you were the one who disappeared on me."

"Because I knew just how wrong I was. I was embarrassed. And I knew since now that PRETTYMUCH is making some noise, it'd be a matter of time before you found out I was apart of that noise. Again. I'm really sorry."

Violet looked away and had to restrain herself from speaking, knowing that her voice would only come out shaky. She missed Edwin more than anything and it hurt seeing him so happy without her. All of his instagram pictures with his "boys" and all the new friends he's made. Even his new girlfriend. It sucked that she wasn't apart of his life anymore.

"I want to make this work."

"Make what work, Edwin?"

"Us again", Edwin answered confidently and Violet sighed. "Yes I know, I have a girl. Izzy's great but maybe she'll be great for someone else. I just really miss you, Vee. I want to be able to go on tour and sing and shit but I also want to be able to be in your life."

Violet searched his eyes for any phoniness but she couldn't pinpoint any. So she said, "The only way we'll be able to work is as friends, Edwin. I'm sorry. But you're just gonna have to live without me as your girl again."

Edwin's face dropped slowly and Violet felt her heart do the same. It wasn't him or even what he did. She still held some kind of love for him. She just truly didn't want to be tied down to anyone. She didn't want to give her heart to someone again only for them to screw it up. So she'd rather stay single, at least until she was positive she was going to get her degree.

"Izzy's good for you", she tried reasoning even thought that shouldn't have been the case.
"From what I've seen on Instagram at least. She's cute and I think you two would make it far if you allow it."

"Yeah", Edwin said closing his eyes before scratching his head and smiling. "Okay."

"So we're good?" Violet asked.

"Yeah. We good?" Edwin asked in return.

Violet laughed. "We're alright, Egg."
