Author's Note
Yeah, I know, I'm evil. An Author's Note right off the bat when you probably just want to get your fix of Merlin fics, but some things must be said.
First, I have a undeniable urge to warn you that this is my first Fanfic, I have limited experience writing, and I love the show but have been too chicken to make it past a little bit of the third season because I don't want to watch all of the lovely relationships that had been formed with Morgana be burned to ash by the pain in her heart. Also, from what I can gather after season 3 it gets super angsty and I don't want to see them get hurt. Therefore, I'm writing the story which has been rolling around in my head for months and where they will inevitably be hurt by my own hand. Oh, the irony.
Now, before you bring out the pitchforks and torches, I am, in fact, aware that thus far there isn't an actually story you can see, just this note. Originally my plan was to just write the whole thing and post a chapter every week. It would work wonderfully if only I had it all written and perfectly constructed.
The problem is: one, it isn't even nearly completed. Two, I had at first thought it would only be a 10-15 chapter story and it would all fall together without a problem (I was wrong). Three, I have at least 20 starts for chapters that have barely anything to do with the plot and would require several chapters each for them to flow together (as well as heavy editing because they are ridiculously jumpy with the point of views! *looks accusingly at chapters*). And four, I don't even know where my plot is, it just shows up sometimes, mumbles incoherent things that vaguely make sense then wanders away. I think it's hiding somewhere with the dragon discussing the best ways to be a cryptic jerkwad.
So, instead of writing it all at once, then posting chapters till the story is completely up, I am going to try doing this chapter by chapter. Because of this, updates will be slow (but I'll try my best, I promise), published chapters are viable to change (though I'll warn you if I change something), and it will be a work in progress. At least we'll all be unsure as to where this is going together! :)
And if you're wondering why I just wrote a Author's Note it was because I need to get something out, even if it was something as small as this.
That being said, if you're actually taking the time to read this ramble writing of an Author's Note, as well as this fanfic I'm trying to write, I thank you for taking the time to read it. I would love feedback, suggestions, and corrections on anything you can think of.
