"Hello class, take your seats. I'm Ms. Leery. Welcome to, Abomination Academy. My first question is: can someone define what a mercenary is?"

Ms. Leery paused, panning her gaze around the classroom. None of us shy first years had any intention of raising our hand.

"Suprising, all of you are about to attend a school for mercenaries but don't know what one is." She sighed. "Mercenaries are the backbone of our world. We are hired to assist or even replace the various armies of this world. In essence, our profession is to fight. Does anyone know why mercenaries are necessary?"

No one raised their hand.

"Come on now, the only dumb answers are the ones left unsaid."

Still no hands raised. Ms. Leery scoffed, "We are necessary in order to keep the peace. When we are used in place of armies, we are way less likely to cause war. We are spies, firefighters, police, nurses and soldiers. Never forget that."

Ms. Leery turned to the board behind her and started to write.

"Tomorrow when you are assigned your team, you will be given this book," She pointed to the words written on the board, "Read the first five chapters and be ready for class next week. Dismissed."

The early dismissal of the class sent the new Freshmen at Abomination Academy rushing out of the classroom in a frenzy. Miqua, not wanting to get caught up in the mess, leisurely followed behind. Exiting the classroom, she was hit with a strong beam of sunlight and heat.

The academy was located on a large island off the coast of Moorunda. Most people enrolled hailed from some Moorundan country, actually. The sunny skies and intense heat was a familiar characteristic of the land.

The large campus was serene and beautiful, there was a constant light breeze and a permanent cloudless deep blue sky. However, Miqua, wasn't really allowed the time to enjoy it.

"Yoo! Is that Maccabi's sister!"

The familiar call filled her soul with annoyance.

She whipped her head around. A boy with spikey yellow hair was pointing at her. She tilted her head, "Um no, who's Maccabi?"

"Seriously you don't know Mac?" He asked.

"Um, no, I'm a freshman from far away sorry."

"Ohhh but your accent is just like Mac's though."

"Uhh, crazy coincidence. Bye!" She started to make her escape, she turned and ran in the opposite direction. Behind her, the boy turned into a blue, slimy liquid, falling to the floor. It flowed under her until it passed her, reforming in front of her before she could reach the doorway out.

"Ooh you almost tricked me! Maybe it is true that Diyans are masters of disguise." He chuckled. "So what do I gotta do to score a date with a princess?"

"Uh I have no idea what you're talking about. Please leave me alone. Bye." Miqua once again tried to scurry off.

"You're funny."

"I don't-"

"YOU GUYS! THAT'S MAC'S LIL' SISTER." He yelled, pointing at Miqua.

"No please!" She yelped.

At first she found the attention flattering, but Miqua had already been on campus for two days and the large swarms were not enjoyable.

"Is it true that you guys are royalty."
"Yooo! Mac's sister!"
"We can call her lil Mac."
"Damn girl, you should make me your prince."
"Do you fight like him too?"
"Ooh they look so much alike."
