Nuki's Fall

Prolouge

     A slim, dark furred figure appeared in the darkness along with another figure, who was shorter and longer furred. It turned to gaze at the first figure, eyes narrowed to slits. "Glaze, what are we gonna do once your cubs are born?"
      The figure sat down calmly, flicking her furred ears down, waiting for a response. The other figure named Glaze lifted his head. "What are you talking about, Beesting?" He muttered, flicking his gaze to his side, crossing his paws uncomfortably. Beesting growled. "At their ceremony, will you let it happen?" She hissed, her stored anger finally crackling, spilling out of her mouth. "Will you let most of our cubs die for some stupid tradition?" She said, not really expecting an answer. All was silent for a few moments.
      Glaze sighed. "I am not letting my pack think I am biased, all living members of our pack has done this challenge, why shouldn't our cubs?" He muttered, feeling his mate's cold gaze melt into his dark pelt. He gulped, looking away again as she stood up. "What if we have five cubs? Or six?" She yelped, ears pushing behind her skull. "Would you want to see four of them die? I think not!" She gave a hmph and turned away. "Whatever Glaze, you can have your ways." She grunted, turning away.
      Glaze watched Beesting growl, and then grow silent. He sighed, trotting over to her side, pressing her nose to her pelt. The moonlight washed over them as he watched her grieve over cubs she wouldn't even have to mourn yet. Yet, yet. He thought, looking to her. "It will be okay, Bee, it will be-" He was cut off by her snapping at him. "You'll be sleeping in your own nest tonight." She said, before leaving the scene. Glaze winced, looking over at the moon.
      "Embers, can you hear me? Please listen to me tonight, o' mighty ones. Please bless us with at least one healthy pup." He said, gulping nervously, before turning away. The male pushed out of the clear pathway, disappearing into the forest.
