A Very Malec Wedding (Malec fanfic)

Chapter 9

"Why did it have to be sunny today?" Alec asked, staring longingly at the bed as Magnus dressed him. "I liked it when it rained."

"You always like it when it rains, babe."

"Cos I can never get enough of you, Mags. I only ever go to the shower, never leave the bedroom."

"And who always makes your breakfast? Lunch and dinner?" Alec stuck his tongue out like a child making Magnus grin and roll his eyes. "Anyway, we have to get back because it's Christmas next month. You and Izzy are going out shopping tomorrow, I have work to do and a very important present to get."

"What is this 'very important' present anyway?"

"Ah, now that would ruin the surprise now wouldn't it?" Alec whined.

Both fully dressed, clothes and all packed away, they were both ready to head home. Neither of them particularly wanted to, they were happy humping like bunnies all day in bed while the rain and hail pelted down outside their window. Or on calm days when they could sit down on the beach and go swimming or paddling in the shallow shores, relaxing and taking a break from their stressful lives back home in Brooklyn.

Alec would have to return to training and getting up at stupid o clock, Magnus working or seeing clients most days and sometimes Alec would disappear for days or perhaps weeks on end to go fighting, coming back injured and in need of loving care from his wonderful husband. Magnus had suggested he quit but Alec refused, "saying I feel useless if I don't work, leaving you to have the only income for us." And that was the end of that. Magnus had near millions saved up over the years, but Alec still said no. "It'll last a lifetime or two, but we've got infinity together."

"Can't I just cancel it?" Alec asked, sighing again.

"I've got work, sweet pea."

"Can't you just-"

"No."

"You don't even know what I was going. to" say Alec pouted.

"I don't need to." Magnus was slowly getting a little miffed, but not wanting to start an argument. He blamed the meds. "We can't stay and that's that, I'm sure you'll have a lovely day out with Izzy. You haven't seen her in about a month. Whenever the wedding was, I don't even know what today is."

"Tuesday. Novemeber 12th. So yeah, just over a month."

Magnus shrugged, not actually caring. He just wanted to get home and back to work to distract him from the intense pain he felt. He still hadn't told Alec, he wouldn't for a while, not wanting to ruin their honeymoon though they were now leaving. The news came to him a few days before their wedding, the news of the cancer in his leg. Medicine taken in private, gulping down tablets when using a pee break excuse, injection needles hidden away under a floor tile.

Alec had noticed Magnus' slight distance, but never questioned what was wrong, hoping that he would tell him if it were bad. After Alec had kept an illness hidden before ending up with a blood clot as a result, they both vowed at the wedding to never keep secrets. Had Magnus broken that already..? If so, he had better have a reason. He wouldn't let him get away this time.

"Ready to go, Allie?" Magnus smiled reassuringly, as if he knew what Alec were thinking. A portal was open up against one of the walls, the spinning making Alec's fringe blow in front of his eyes from the small breeze it gave off.

"Yeah." He smiled back, eyes lighting up. That made Magnus smile too, his eyes becoming bright.

Hands held tightly together, they walked through the portal and reappeared in their living room in Brooklyn. The portal closed behind them and their honeymoon was officially.. Over. Rooms still, windows closed, doors locked and not a single sound to be heard.
