Bakugo was never a romantic person. He believed that he was the best and nobody else. So when that first day of middle school came, the ash blonde boy met a girl and his chest started pounding. He knew he messed up.

Bakugo never did learn that girls name but he still remembers how stunning he thought she was. The girl had long, silky hair tied in a neat ponytail. Her eyes were small and held a pair a sea green pupils. She was kind, generous and more importantly, she could put Bakugo in his place.

Bakugo would watch her every day he could, his feelings blossoming inside him like a crimson rose. Unfortunately for him, litterely.

It had been two weeks since Bakugo started liking this girl when he suddenly felt sick. He asked to be excused and headed to the boys bathroom, coughing. He leant over the sink as he coughed again, but something unexpected came out of his mouth. A single rose petal fell into the sink. Bakugo looked down, terrified. Suddenly, he felt more rose petals rising in his throat as he coughed, choked and hacked, every sound of his suffering introducing a few more petals into the sink. He wouldn't move from the bathroom, in fear that all his classmates would see him acting so weak...Katsuki Bakugo, the tough guy of the school, brought to his knees over stupid petals. He hadn't noticed the door of the bathroom opening.

"Kacchan? Are you okay?"

Bakugo looked up in fear before seeing who it was.

"Stupid Deku...Of cause I'm okay-" He was interrupted by coughing and he looked on the floor to see more petals. He looked back up to see Deku frantically flicking through his notebook, muttering.

"The heck?"

"Kacchan this is really bad..." Deku sat beside him with a page open.

"Hanahaki?" Bakugo read from the book.

"Yes. Suffering from one sided love and coughing up petals. There was a pro hero in the news that had it."

"Ah." Bakugo read the page, his face dropping.

"It could kill me?"

"Yes...It's deadly...You'll need to get surgery to have it removed or get the person you like to like you back-"

"I DON'T LIKE ANYONE!" Bakugo yelled.

"I won't press who it is...but it's better to get the surgery earlier on so make your decision." Deku ripped out the page. "Keep this and show it to your parents."

With that, he left.

Bakugo did get the surgery. But it made him reluctant to love anyone because it could kill him...
