AJ's POV:

I looked in the mirror one last time before leaving for school. I tried many different hairstyles before I got one that I liked.

"This looks pretty cool," I said to myself as I ran the gel through my hair to form a sort of quiff hairstyle.

I picked out my favorite red shirt along with some black basketball shorts.

As I walked out the door, I grabbed my gray Jordans. I liked these shoes a lot.

I walked to school that day since I already missed the bus. My other friend, Justin Miller, also walked to school that day.

I saw him when I was about half way to school. We were on the main road when I saw him.

"Hey Justin!" I yelled, waving my hand as I smiled.

He looked over at me and waved me towards him.

"This is my chance", I whispered to myself as I began my journey across the busy road.

As I walked across the street, several cars honked their car horns. I looked over at the cars a few times but I then kept my head facing straight ahead right away.

I finally made it across and looked behind me. Several cars were lined up down the street. Some people were even out of their cars, yelling.

"LOL," I said as I looked at Justin. A straight and confused look was on his face.

"What, Justin?" I asked, nervously.

"Well you just caused that," he said as he pointed to all the cars and yelling people.

I laughed. I then brought out a dollar from my swaggy Nike bookbag. "Wanna see a magic trick?" I asked Justin with the dollar in my hand.

"Oh, I don't know. I really think we should get to school now. We might be late if we don't start walking now," Justin said as he started to walk.

"Okay, I guess we can do that," I said with a shrug.

There was a silent pause as we began to walk. I didn't know what to say. I fidgeted with my hands as I began to think of what to say.

"Do you want to sprint?" I asked quickly.

"Do I want to sprint?" He asked, not sure of what I just asked.

"Um.. Well, I mean... We don't ha-have to... I don't kn-," I started to fade out.

"Sure! I love to run!" Justin said excited. "After all, I did get the best score in my gym class for the pacer test!" He bragged. I liked when he bragged. He was the only one who could brag and totally get away with it.

I smiled and nodded. "Then I guess we can make this a competition, huh?" I asked as I nudged his arm with my elbow. I wanted to show off to Justin. I always would do swimming during the summer ever since I was 6! Ever since my first dive into the pool, I could swim faster than anyone there! I thought that if I could swim pretty fast than I guess I could run fast too!

"Wait!" I said as Justin was about to run. "I need to do my warm-ups!"

Justin nodded. I began my first warm-up which was sit ups. I got down on the sidewalk and asked Justin if he could count how many sit ups I did. I started with one as he counted out loud. I watched his mouth as he talked and how the edges of his mouth would curl up slightly when he'd smile.

Once I got done with sit ups, I stood up.

"Hey AJ, you kind of have something in your hair," Justin said as he pointed to the hair in the back of my head.

"Oh well can you please pick it out for me?" I asked as I turned my head so the back of my head was facing him.

"Sure," he said smiling. He reached over towards my hair. He gently took out the thing that was in my hair.

"Oh, it was just an old piece of chewed up gum!" He said laughing.

I laughed too. His laugh was sure contagious.

"Next warm-up!" I announced.

"What is it?" Justin asked smiling.

"Squats," I said seriously. Squats were a serious thing to me. I loved squats. I always thought everybody should do squats.

"Squats?" He asked.

I nodded my head as I spread my legs apart. "ONE!" I shouted as I started my first squat.

After many squats later, I was ready to go.

"Time to sprint!" I yelled. This was an exciting thing for me. I wanted to show off to Justin to show him I was a great runner.

"Ready?" I asked.

Justin nodded his head.

"Okay. Ready, set, GO!" I shouted at the top of my lungs.

I started sprinting at full speed as I saw Justin was beside me. That's when I decided to wave my arms like I was swimming to increase my speed. I knew I could do this. The school was right there and Justin was right next to me. I moved my arms like I was swimming as fast as I could.

"I can do this!" I whispered to myself.

All of a sudden I heard a squeal. I stopped and looked behind me. There was Justin on his back on the ground.

"JUSTIN?!?! Omg! Are you okay?!" I asked. I was super nervous. I didn't want him to be hurt or even worst - mad at me.

I quickly got down on my knees to make sure he was okay.

After about 10 minutes, I found out he was okay. We then walked the little rest of the way to the school. I held his arm as we walked to make sure he was okay. I glanced at him several times examining all his features.

"He is gr8."
I thought to myself.
