I sat up in the small bed and furiously scratched the stitches living in the middle of my stomach. The nurse (Perry, I think?) grabbed my hand and placed it on the hospital bed. She slowly pulled out the IV in my arm as another pulled a 2nd needle out of my lower shoulder. They both refilled the medical bags and told me I would go home at 1:30 PM after a "final checkup". I look at Gracie as she hands me her small IPad. I grab it and punch in my numbers. I hand the IPad back and smile. The aftermath of the medications kicked in and I felt nauseous. I watched as Gracie pushes a trash can to me. I hurl in the trash can and wipe my mouth then curl up into a ball in my small bed.

I wake up to hear Gracie singing on the top of her lungs. Possibly Perry (the nurse.) got annoyed because I also heard her telling Gracie to shut her mouth and to turn off the TV. I heard this argument for about 2 minutes before I saw the nurse slam the door. Gracie was obviously furious and grabbed her pillow and yelled (full on yelled). I sat up and looked at the clock. It was noon. Asleep for 3 extra hours. Gracie looked at me and started laughing. "Hey Susan! How was your final nap?" She had pill bottles lined up on the window sill. Next to the line of bottles was a big bottle of water and a red cup. Gracie shook her arms and smiled. "The 1st time I have no needles in my arm." I was a little jealous and looked at my arms. Nope. Still needles in my arms. I looked at Perry. She had a red cup and bottles of pills on a small cart. Perry slowly pushed the cart to my bed and smiled.
"These won't hurt. They won't make you nauseous."
I watched as she put the pills and the red cup on the bedside table that separated me and Gracie. Perry gave me a small purple container. The nurse pulled the needles out of my arms and moved the bags of medications out of the room. The holes were small yet painful. "Ok, so the bottles are color coded so you can refill if needed."The nurse pointed to 9 small bottles and grabbed the purple container. "This is a pill container." She grabbed the container and drew lines on each small box.
