Just Peachy

Dakota started her day in a bad mood. She was still mad about the night before and what that meant for today. So she wasn't the happiest when she woke up. But still, Dakota got ready for the day by starting it with a shower.
Though she did like using Jacob's soaps, at her house she used vanilla scented ones. She really liked freshness of it so that's what she used. They made her happy. After her shower, Dakota was in a slightly better mood. She had changed into a pair of boyfriend jeans, one of Jacob's old sweatshirts and her favorite pair of work boots. Once dressed, the redhead decided to tackle the rats nest that was her hair by putting it into a fishtail braid.
Since she was heading to school, she grabbed her bag off the desk chair and went downstairs for breakfast. Waffles were a personal favorite of hers and easy to make. They also went well with orange juice or chocolate milk.
Bella had stumbled into the kitchen while Dakota was washing her dishes and grabbed only a single apple to eat. Not a lot but her nerves wouldn't let her eat anything more. Plus she was running behind due to her late start.
"Alright, I'm gonna drive you to school today but after that you're on your own. Since I'm a sophomore I'm not gonna have any classes with you so don't expect me to. The only thing we will have together is lunch because our school is that small, we only have one." Dakota spoke quickly but made sure she wasn't rude.
Bella understood most of what she had said but could tell her little sister was agitated. She didn't ask questions and followed her outside to her Jeep. Where they made their way to Forks High school, home of the Spartans. There were two places to park. One is for the faculty and the other is for the student body, but Bella needed to be dropped off in the front where the faculty park to get her schedule. Dakota dropped her sister off on the front steps before going to find a place to park. She gave Bella step by step instructions on what to do and where to go and told her where to find her afterwards. Which was in the other parking lot by the cafeteria.
In Forks, Dakota had approximately one friend and that was Angela. She was Bella's age and her grade; the only reason the two were friends was because Dakota punched a pervert in the face. Some drunk dude was grabbing at her ass and didn't stop when Angela said to, fortunately for her, 15 year old Dakota happened to be at the town plaza where  she was and heard her cries for help. Where Dakota promptly turned around and punched the jerk in the face. After that, the two quickly became friends.
Of course, Dakota despises all of Angela's other friends because they're either shallow, self absorbed, annoying and clingy, or all of the above. She tolerates them to spend some time with her friend but doesn't put up with their shit or anyone else's. That's why the young girl usually eats lunch alone. But in the morning she hangs out with Angela and her group of "friends".
Bella took too long making her way to the cafeteria where her sister waited so she didn't meet any of the other students in her grade. Her classes where in the same hall which was beneficial to both sisters temporarily because it meant Dakota didn't have to be late showing Bella to class. It also meant they would see each other in the halls a lot.
Most of the classes Dakota took were Pre- AP because she actually enjoyed learning. She had algebra 2 with a handful of juniors but that was it. The classes weren't particularly hard but they weren't easy either. And because they were always doing something fun or interesting the day always went by fast, at least for Dakota it did.
Lunch came quickly and this was the only day Dakota was gonna eat with her sister and Angela's friends. They really did annoy her to a very difficult point to reach. Congratulations to them, they pissed off a girl who didn't get mad easily unless you messed with her family.
The group of juniors were surprised to see the two Swan girls sitting with them. They knew Bella would continue to sit with them but they weren't sure about Dakota. And if they were being honest they hoped she didn't because Dakota Swan wasn't the girl to mess with. Everyone knew pretty quickly not to mess with her. Which is why no one said anything.
"Hey, Dakota," Angela was glad to see her friend eating with her.
Dakota looked up from her tray to the brunette with a smile, "Sup, Angela."
That moment the Cullen's walked in. Bella was instantly intrigued, "Who are they?"
Dakota rolled her eyes as Jessica began to explain the foster children. And then Edward walked in and Jessica made it as obvious as possible that she had been rejected and wasn't over it. Bella stared at the male even after he sat down. Creepy much.
The youngest Swan never liked the Cullens. Especially since she grew up with the Quileute tribal legends, and the Cullens were the enemy. Plus they scared her. Something about them screamed at her danger and to get away as far as possible as fast as possible. Obviously that wasn't an option for her during school.
By the end of the day Dakota was annoyed with every single person in the school. All she got was questions about her sister. Why is she so pale? Are you two really related? You don't look like sisters. No, really? She thought they could've passed as twins! What a disappointment. And her all time favorite: Is she single?/Does she have a boyfriend?
Eventually everyone realized Dakota wasn't going to answer their questions. She didn't know the answer to the more personal ones anyway. Dakota knew absolutely nothing about Bella. She didn't want to know anything either. She knows she might see like a bitch for the way she is acting about her sister, but the girl has her reasons. Bella swan chose to leave her little sister. She wasn't forced or anything, it was her decision. Dakota was deeply hurt and begged his sister to visit but she didn't. And after a while she was done. If Bella couldn't care enough about Dakota to visit once a year over the summer for a week, Dakota didn't have to care about her now.
When Bella made her way to Dakota's Jeep, it was obvious she was bothered by something. And since the younger Swan loved her dad and best friend, she decided to be nice.
"Hey, you ok?" Her voice was soft and full of concern. Real concern though she would never admit it.
Bella was surprised to say the least, "Um, yeah. I'm fine."
Dakota rolled her eyes and pulled out of the parking lot, "Liar. What's wrong?"
"Edward hates me."
"He hates everyone. Don't take it personally. And besides, you can do so much better than Mr. Freak!"
       "Yea..."
The rest of their ride home was silent but comfortable. Bella's head was against the window watching the rain roll down while Dakota's eyes were trained on the road. She was really hoping her sister wouldn't get attached to the pale face. All that would do is cause trouble and neither had time for that. Bella is going to be busy catching up on schoolwork and Dakota doesn't like him to the point that even her father argues with her about it. Bella getting with Edward would just cause more tension between them due to her obvious distaste and that isn't something the Swan household needs added to their plate.
When the sisters reached their house, both quickly exited the vehicle to get inside with minimal amount of rain on their bodies. That didn't work out. Bella took two steps and slipped in a puddle. Dakota, hearing the pained whine that escaped her sister's lips, rushed to her side resulting in both getting drenched. However she couldn't find it in herself to care since there was a strong possibility Bella was hurt.
"Oh my god, are you ok?" She crouched down time her sisters level.
Bella grimaced and shifted her body, "Yea, I'm just a klutz,"
"Well everyone knows that, you sure you're ok?"
"Yes. I'm fine, don't worry about me,"
"Ok... You know the whole point of us rushing was so we didn't get too wet," Dakota paused to wring our the bottom of her sweatshirt, "and now were soaked."
Dakota laughed and soon enough her sister joined her. They were absolutely drenched in water but that's what was so funny to them. Water was running down their bodies as they reached for their bags. No doubt in either mind that their homework was soaked. Well that was going to be interesting to explain.
"Come on let's go inside, you can shower first that way we both have hot water," Dakota bumped her sister with a genuine smile plastered on her face.
Bella nodded and carefully followed her sister inside. No accidents this time. While Bella went to take a shower Dakota changed out of her wet clothes and into some dry ones while she waited. She also laid out her school work to dry, grateful that she didn't take home any textbooks or books in general. She had some binders and notebooks but she would have to get new ones since the papers were completely ruined. The ink and lines were already mixing with one another, well that's just great. Dakota groaned and sent a text to some of her classmates for pictures of the assignments that was she could still do them. She'd go to the store tomorrow for new notebooks and just use the extra paper she had for her binders until she got more.
There was a knock on her door, "Come in!"
"Hey," her father poked his head in, "Can you please make dinner? I just got called in to work so I'll be back later tonight."
Dakota nodded, "Yea, of course,"
He sighed, "Thank you, also don't think I've forgotten about you missing picking up your sister and then being late. You are in trouble for that so no movies with the boys this weekend,"
"What! That's not fair!" Her face was burning.
"You blew off your sister, Dakota. I think that's pretty fair. No movie this weekend, that's final," He turned to leave but hesitated, "and I better not hear you complaining about it either."
Charlie shut the door and Dakota slammed her fist on her desk. How dare he! She thought as tears brimmed her eyes. Anger surging through her vains and she grabbed her towel off the chair. It's not fair! She wiped at her eyes and stood up to go jump in the shower. Bella had enough time with the hot water.
