-Introducing the main character: Emma is a 17 year old Canadian girl, who's just starting college. She's a grade A honours student, who has just got into health science at the college of her choice; Collège Belle Études, which is French for "beautiful studies". Unfortunately Emma has been struggling with off and on depression since the age of 10, due to past traumas. She has a boyfriend which she met the summer before grade 11. They've been dating for almost 2 years now. We'll talk more about him as we go along. Emma is an extremely sensitive character, who deals with a lot of anxiety as well. She's tough, but she's weak.. and it'll all make sense shortly.
