"Em...Em..ly....Emily!"

I awoke to a violent shake that tossed me out of the soft chair to the cold stone floor. I wasn't quite awake yet, so I laid there quietly as someone started complaining above me. "God, you didn't use to be this hard to wake up. In fact, unless someone conked you over the head or someone completely drained you of energy, you were a pretty light sleeper. Jeez, I told you not to work overtime."

"What? She not awake yet?" Another voice rang as the sound of cups and plates rattled. A door shut shortly after as another body entered the room, the new one's footsteps even lighter than the girl's. Including me there were now four people in my library office.

"You guys are like hungry vultures, can't you leave her alone?" The girl said nudging my side with her foot. "Get up." she growled.

"I am her caretaker." One of the others said placing the plates down.

"Sure, sure, and you?" Another kick in the side.

"I was here on official business actually. It is already three in the afternoon." A new voice said grumpily. My mind stirred a little but not fast enough as a hard kick hit me. I let out a groan and rolled away only to hit a wall of books that crashed down on me. I let out a little scream as laughter filled the room.

"That isn't very nice."

"Oh come on!" The laughter stopped as it went into a squeaking whine. "I suppose you should dig her out."

"Me?"

"You are the caretaker, General." The girl giggled.

"She is right." Said the other male.

"Fine."

"Don't!" I yelled slowly pulling myself from the bottom careful not to disturb the pile anymore. It was a pain to sort all these papers. "Just everyone leave except for Victor."

"Hey you need to get priorities first." Amanda said. She was sitting on my desk casually flipping through my papers.

"I made an appointment. I will keep it, your majesty. I will be speaking to you in three hours anyway." She pouted but I just ignored her and turned to the last person in the room. "Leave it and go with her or you guys ill be late to the meeting that starts in.." I looked at the small clock in the corner. "Ten minutes."

"But.." Jerry stuttered.

"No ifs, ands, or buts. Go." I pulled Amanda off the desk and pushed her out the door followed by Jerry. Despite the complaints they left and Victor was standing casually at a shelf. "Now about those vampire records.." I started heading towards my upturned chair.

An arm cut me off forcing me against the window. "You think I am here to discuss my ancestry?" He said pinning me against the wall. Victor was the last true vampire, his brother Jerry didn't count since his vampire blood had been expelled after he awoke to his full dragon power. To explain why he was pinning me up against the wall, we have to go into his race's blood laws. A vampire can only have one true love in his or her entire life. The one the vampire loves may not love him back so he has to try and win the others love.

Apparently I was his love, so I have to deal with his affections on a daily basis. The only exclusion is when I am away on business that he can't come on. I also used to harbor feelings for him but times changed and I no longer care for him as he does me. Of course his love borders on crazy because vampires tend to get obsessed in love. It rots away their brains pretty easily.

"Well, if you want to stay then yes." I said bluntly.

"How about I teach you about something else?" His mouth moved closer to my neck his eyes briefly changing from dark green to red.
