Bill was born in Rhodes 1856, to a reasonably well off family that made their money running the towns general store. With the money made at the general store, Bill was lucky enough to be sent to school where he learned to read, write and properly act. At home he helped out around the store where he could, sweeping the floors, moving the not so heavy stock around, and doing things that weren't too straining for a kid. Once Bill became old enough to get a proper job of his own, the expectation was that he would take a larger role in the family store, but instead Bill elected for something a lot more adventurous. He decided he wanted to become a lawman and make something of himself rather than stay in the same old store. So he marched down to the sheriffs office, was given a deputy badge and was told to shoot straight and don't die. He remained a deputy in Rhodes for some time and even became quite the gunslinger with the training of his fellow deputies.
