Prefatory Matters

On January 25th, 2019, the world was changed forever. An event known as the Singularity created a huge pulse of energy that covered the entire Earth, and was seen by everyone. Moments later, all technology and communication went dark, and the planet soon began to lose contact with itself. That was only the start of their troubles.

People around the world started transforming, mutating into strange and hellish creatures that came to be known as hypermorphs. Millions were born in the first wave, and millions more died to the things that had once been their friends and family. Humanity tried to fight back, but by then, it was too late. The world had lost a war they didn't even know they were fighting.

Humanity collapsed in a matter of days. Survivors were few and scattered across the world, not knowing if they were living in hell on Earth. But, those that survived found that they were given a strange gift. Supernatural and superhuman abilities unlike anything the world had seen before. The scientific name given to them was metahumans.

A secret government agency codenamed Reservoir captured most of these metahumans and began to run tests on them to see the true power of their abilities. Unbeknownst to these metahumans, and unbeknownst to Reservoir themselves, they were secretly under the control of a being named Tobias, the creator of all metahumans, and the emissary of light and good itself.

He had gathered all of these metahumans together and given them their powers so they could become his agents in the fight against his opposite and mortal enemy: a being of darkness and evil calling itself Gerrard. In order to do that, he needed to find a new host, one that was powerful enough to share his energy and defeat Gerrard forever.

Eventually, he found one. A young girl with potential, not a metahuman, but a normal being with love for her older brother. That was all that Tobias needed. Gerrard sent his hypermorph minions to hunt down and kill this new vessel, but he was too late. Tobias was absorbed into this girl and she was given the power to defeat and send Gerrard back to where he came from.

Tobias, satisfied with his mission, left, saying that he would always watch over his children. But, he couldn't save the world alone. Now it was their turn. Humanity needed guidance out of the darkness, a light to point the way. Metahumans are that light, and their time has come. Now, it has been 10 years since Gerrard's defeat, and the time has come once again for metahumans to save the world...
