Chapter 3
~Alexis~
"Seems like school went on forever today!"
Alexis and Jonathan rallied between two large stone lions which were positioned next to the glass doors of the building. Alexis observed as many high schooled teenagers wandered about. Some were readjusting their bags, others stood on the curb waiting for their ride home.
"Yeah no kidding," agreed Jonathan. He set his backpack down and leaned against the wall. "I enjoyed lunch though."
"You always enjoy lunch," She rolled her eyes.
Jonathan opened his mouth, his lips dripping with something venomous. Before he could respond though something in the corner of his eye took him by surprise.
Alexis laughed as Kaden came out of nowhere and suddenly knocked Jonathan off his feet. Both crashed to the ground and Jonathan quickly became overwhelmed by 175 pounds of friendship.
Jonathan pushed, squeezed, and eventually slithered free of Kaden's grip. Taking a few steps back, he brushed off his shorts and straightened his shirt.
"Jonathan, I missed you!" Kaden exclaimed dramatically.
"It's been maybe... five minutes."
"Good thing you can't get tired of all this," Kaden struck a pose and motioned towards himself.
"If you can call that anything," stated Alexis with a chuckle.
"Whatever! At least I have more than you."
"Um... excuse me?" She raised her eyebrows. "Forget you then..." Alexis rolled her eyes at Kaden and turned to Jonathan. "What were you saying?"
"You mean before I was rudely interrupted?" Jonathan coughed loudly. "I meant to ask if you are planning to come over?"
"You know I always do... Why do you ask?"
"Oh, no reason. Just had to make sure." Jonathan aimed a wink at Kaden.
Alexis looked back and forth between the two suspiciously. "What was that for?"
"What was what?" Kaden put on an innocent face.
"A bit too innocent," she thought. "Did I miss something?" asked Alexis as she put her hands on her hips.
Jonathan smiled slyly, "Maybe." The two boys got up and headed towards the wide cement stairs leaving a curious Alexis behind.
"Why are you two looking so guilty?" She started up after them. "You're having a conversation with your faces and I know it!"
This made the others bust out laughing.
"It's okay, you wouldn't get it anyway," Jonathan snickered.
"I give up!" She threw her hands in the air, "Boys are ridiculous!"
"Us!?" asked Kaden in shock.
"Impossible!" Jonathan finished, giving a look of disbelief mixed with false hurt.
"You guys are so weird."
"Uh, have you looked at yourself in the mirror recently?" Jonathan turned to face her. "You can't say anything."
She paused for a second pretending to ponder. "That's true," she finally agreed.
"Hey, hold up," Kaden stopped all of a sudden and checked his phone. "I gotta run home real quick to pick up some clothes."
"Okay, I'll just meet you at my house then?" Jonathan asked.
