🦋It was one of those nights. The rainy nights when the rain wasn't extremely heavy yet, but heavy enough to leave a lingering cold in the air.
Most would like those nights. The weather was absolutely perfect for sleeping, or watching Netflix on the couch while huddled up in a blanket, maybe snuggling with your lover, if you had one.
But Seungmin never liked those nights. The cold air made goosebumps rise on his skin, and the thunder, though muffled by the walls of his house, sent jolts through his body every time it roared.
But it was okay, because Hyunjin would come back from work at the flower shop soon, and hug him tight and give him warmth.
As of on cue, the door opened with a soft click. And there the said boy was, standing in the doorway with all his soaked glory.
His hair hung low over his forehead, droplets of rain still dripping from the ends. The rain had created a large patch of water nearly covering his entire hoodie, which clung to his lean figure.
Seungmin didn't think Hyunjin could have looked any more beautiful.
"Can you quickly go dry off and change? I want some cuddles."
Hyunjin smiled softly at his boyfriend. "Actually, I was thinking we could post that letter you wrote to your Mom?"
With those dark chocolate eyes sparkling with hope, who could resist?
"Okay then." Seungmin got up from the couch, grabbing the letter on the dining table and walking over to the shoe rack by the door.
Grabbing the sole umbrella they owned, Seungmin walked through the door and opened it so Hyunjin could stand under it too.
Smiling shyly, the two lovers began their walk towards the nearest postbox.
The entire walk, Seungmin couldn't help but admire the facial features of his boyfriend. That sharp jawline, those plump lips- and of course, that one mole beneath his left eye that Seungmin found absolutely endearing.
Hyunjin's cheeks flushed pink under his lover's gaze. "Seungmin, I'm all soaked. There nothing pretty to look at..."
But Seungmin couldn't disagree more. "You look like an angel." He gave his boyfriend a peck on the cheek, smiling softly afterward. "My Angel."
Soon, they had reached their destination. There the red postbox stood, just across the road. Waiting for the letter to be deposited inside.
Seungmin flinched as the thunder roared.
Of course, Hyunjin noticed the movement. "Seungmin, why don't you give the letter to me. I know you're scared of thunderstorms... don't worry, I'll be back in an instant, I promise."
Seungmin couldn't argue as Hyunjin led him to stand under the cover of a nearby shophouse, taking the letter and umbrella from his hands. He then turned away, not forgetting to peck his boyfriend on the lips before doing so.
Seungmin watched as his lover crossed the road with dainty, graceful steps, trying to avoid the bigger puddles of rain.
The thunder roared again, making Seungmin flinch.
Just an instant, and Hyunjin will be back. Don't worry, Seungmin.
But in that instant, as Hyunjin was in the middle of the road, a car approached, driving at a speed much too fast for harsh weather like this.
