Chapter 2 : Attempt 1 Stronger

Tenten was beyond nervous. She planned to put Ino, Sakura and Shikamaru's advice to work today but right now, she was having second thoughts.

Team Guy was going to go on a B-Ranked mission. All they had to do was escort a very important document to Suna and it would be over. They had discussed about the details of the route they would take earlier at the team meeting they had held and according to their plan they would have to stay the night on the way to Suna.

Of course, Tenten had reported all of it to Shikamaru and the girls, who decided ( Ino and Sakura mostly did the talking, all the male ninja did was nod and complain ) that she would make her first go at it during the overnight.

They had also formulated new attempts during the meeting, besides the 'Get Stronger' and 'Get Smarter' attempts.

So now, here she was.

Fortunately, they had reached their planned camping spot before nightfall and all she was doing was waiting for the perfect opportunity to do her first at-

"Tenten, my youthful pupil! Will you do the honors and gather more fire wood?!" Guy's voice boomed cheerily, smiling at her with his signature grin.

Speak of the devil! There was her chance!

"Y-Yes, sir!" she said happily, giving a small salute to her sensei.

Commencing Attempt 1 which is... show that you're strong.

'That should do the job.' Tenten thought to herself as she tried to walk back to their campsite with more than just a few pieces of wood she had gathered.

She estimated that five logs of wood would be easy to lift, but boy was she wrong.

Usually, she would only carry two and the boys would carry four or five but today she was going to prove she could handle it!

She hobbled and wobbled as she stumbled along the dirt path, hoping the campsite would come into view soon. During her walk back, she went through the next attempts in her mind until a voice interrupted her thoughts.

"TENTEN, YOUTHFUL FLOWER! WHY ARE YOU CARRYING SO MUCH WOOD?!" Guy yelled at her with a questioning look.

Tenten looked from behind the pile of wood to see the campsite right in front of her. Guy still had his questioning look on, Lee was looking at her weirdly and most of all, Neji was staring at her with a raised eyebrow.

"I-It's nothing Guy-sensei. I can take care of this. Don't worry!" But as if fate truly hated her that day, as she said this, she stumbled back causing all the wood to tilt.

In her direction. And not to mention, fall ( still on her ).

"Tenten!" Lee's shrill voice boomed as he caught all the wood at lightning speed before it all hit the ground. Unfortunately, he had not caught Tenten and she continued falling. She closed her eyes and braced for impact.

And as if everything was in slow-mo, a pair of strong arms caught her.

She opened her eyes and met a pair of pearl white eyes staring at her questioningly and it took her a few seconds to process what had happened.

Neji had caught her and right now, SHE was in HIS arms. Wow. That's a lot of development in such a short time, Tenten. Nice going.

Her eyes widen as she realizes that they have been in this.................promising position for a while now and desperately scrambles out of his grasp.

"Th-Thanks, N-Neji." she stutters with a red face.

But before Neji could answer, Guy's voice loomed over them "Tenten, my precious pupil! Are you alright?!" he questioned, running towards them.
