Are you happy?

You braced yourself for the game of Never Have I Ever you were about to play with the 6 boys you had only met earlier that afternoon. You were sat in between your new friend Yoongi and another guy called Taehyung, who seemed not to like you very much.
One of the guys called Seokjin seemed especially excited to start to game, so he began. 'Okay I'll go first. Never have I ever...had a relationship longer than 3 months,' he said. You were surprised. A tall and talented person like Seokjin had never had a long term relationship? He must not have found the right person. You put one finger down, as did Taehyung and Namjoon. Yoongi and Jungkook hadn't? You held in your surprise. Apart from Hoseok, Jungkook and Yoongi were probably the best looking people you had met...then again, all the guys in this circle were good looking. Maybe they didn't commit, or maybe they hadn't found the right person. You left your thoughts there for the time being.
You all decided to go clockwise, so Jimin was next. 'Hmm...never have I ever, uh...eaten an avocado?' he said, and Jungkook sighed. 'Jimin, you say you love this game, but you never think of good ones!' he said. Jimin nodded his head defeatedly, and Seokjin was the only one who put his finger down. 'Has no one else eaten avocado?' you asked, once again the outcome surprising you. Everyone shook their head (except Seokjin...obviously). Yoongi was next. You braced yourself for an interesting one. 'Never have I ever...kissed someone of the same gender,' he declared. There was then a small 'Yet,' from Namjoon, which made everyone laugh and Yoongi give him a glare. You noticed Jimin blushing out of the corner of your eye, and you smiled. You {kept your finger up/put a finger down} and watched as Taehyung and Jungkook slowly put down their fingers. 'It was a dare!' Jungkook cried, 'at a party! I couldn't forfeit or I would have to only drink beer for the rest of the week...' You rolled your eyes, along with everyone else. 'Mine was also a dare. The guy had a crush on me and his friend knew, so he gave us the dare...it wasn't so great,' Taehyung explained. 'Well it's nice that someone had a crush on you, Hoseok was the only person ever to like me,' you chirped. Taehyung gave you a look, and you put your head down. 'Wait, Hobi was the first person to like you? That can't be true,' Yoongi said. You looked up and laughed. 'It is. I'd liked people...but no one ever liked me back. It's okay though, I found someone eventually,' you said, the corners of your mouth turning slightly downwards. Yoongi noticed and discreetly placed his hand on your back and rubbed it slightly. You looked at him thankfully then he put his fingers back up, and you tried to rack your brain for a never have I ever. 'Hm...um, never have I ever...had a crush on someone else's partner,' you said after some thought. Awkward glances were shared around the room, as Jungkook, Taehyung, Namjoon and Yoongi all put fingers down. 'Oh my god Namjoonie who?' Jimin cried. Clearly Namjoon putting his finger down had been a surprise. 'Ah remember that girl Seonghi was dating? Her name was Steph. She was American...' Namjoon replied. 'Yah of course Namjoonie and Steph - a match made in heaven...if it wasn't for Seonghi,' Seokjin joked. 'Sorry, who's Seonghi?' you asked. 'One of my best friends outside this group,' Namjoon answered. 'Ah,' you said in understanding. 'What about you Taehyungie?' Jimin turned to Taehyung. 'Ah, it doesn't matter,' he answered quietly. Jimin nodded in acknowledgment. 'And Yoongi and Jungkook? What about you two?' Seokjin asked this time. Yoongi shrugged his shoulders and didn't say anything. Jungkook side glanced at you and you noticed, colour then rising in your cheeks. 'No one,' Jungkook replied. Yoongi pinched you and you gently nudged him back, both of you smiling.
Taehyung was next. 'Never have I ever been stung by a bee,' he said, an innocent smile on his face. 'Couldn't you have done something more interesting?' Yoongi asked, shaking his head. 'First thing that came to mind hyung,' Taehyung said. Only Namjoon put his finger down, and Jimin said, 'Ah of course only Namjoonie would do something so clumsy!' Jungkook then felt the need to say, 'But he's very wise! So wise...there was a time when~' but Yoongi cut him off. 'Jungkook, we know you admire Joon, no explanation needed.' You smiled then turned to Jungkook. 'It's your turn then Jungkook,' you said. He looked at you with wide eyes, and you weren't sure if it was because you were actually talking to him, or if he just didn't know what to say.
Then, everyone heard the door slam as Hoseok walked in. He dumped his bags on the sofa and looked at you all in the circle. 'It's Never Have I Ever hyung, come join us,' Jimin said. Hoseok nodded slightly and joined the circle in between Seokjin and Jimin. 'It's Jungkook's turn,' you told him. 'Okay...never have I ever been in more than one relationship at the same time,' he said quietly. Everyone glanced around the circle, and you watched as Hoseok slowly put a finger down, staring at you the entire time. Your lips parted slightly, and you looked down at the ground. You felt Yoongi's hand around your waist, and the awkward silence was deafening. 'It's not~' Hoseok started, but Yoongi cut in. 'Shut up,' he said. Hoseok gave him a dirty look, but Yoongi returned it. You murmured a quiet thanks to him, but you were sure Hoseok hadn't cheated on you. It must have been a previous relationship...mustn't it? You didn't dare look at anyone else. Namjoon cleared his throat. 'Hm okay then my turn,' he said. You decided to look up at him with a little sniff, then you side glanced at Jungkook. He was watching you intently with sad eyes, and you returned his gaze, but he immediately looked away. 'Never have I ever had a crush on someone in this room,' Namjoon declared. As soon as he said that, you knew it was the worst thing he could've done. Everyone except Namjoon and Seokjin put their fingers down. They looked at each other with the faces of 12 year old girls who had just heard the biggest gossip in school. Everyone else seemed to be directing their stares at each other, as if they were trying to work out who liked who. Hoseok was glaring pointedly at Yoongi, who still had one hand around your waist. Yoongi was staring at everyone in turn, but you noticed it was usually more directly at Jimin. Jimin too was glancing around nervously, avoiding eye contact with Yoongi especially. Jungkook was looking down at the floor, but occasionally glanced up at Hoseok or Yoongi. Taehyung was looking at Jungkook, sometimes sneering at you as well. You just looked at everyone in turn, surveying their expression and mood. When you were finally done with all the awkwardness, you stood up. 'Well I'm going to get changed,' you said. 'Your stuff is in the bag. I brought your face product things too for later,' Hoseok said, without even looking at you. 'Thanks...' you muttered, and took your clothes to the bathroom. As you changed you thought about everything that had already happened in the one evening you had been here. Your feelings were messed around in a jumble and you didn't know what to make of anything.
When you reentered no one looked at you. They were all settled on the sofas and had put a movie on. Hoseok had deliberately situated himself on a lone chair, so you decided to sit next to a Yoongi instead. You already seemed to be good friends with him. He was curled up in the smallest ball you had even seen. He barely took up half the sofa. You poked his cheeks to let him know you were going to sit next to him, and also just because they looked so cute and chubby. He gave you an irritable look but you ignored it and shoved yourself next to him.
The movie was the most confusing thing you had ever watched. Yoongi kept having to explain it to you but you still didn't get it. About half way through your stomach began to rumble. Yoongi looked at your stomach then at you. 'You hungry princess?' he whispered. You nodded. 'Guys y/n is hungry so I'm guessing most of you are too. I'll order takeaway,' Yoongi announced.
Everyone told him what they wanted and he left to go and pick it up. You went with him to the door. 'Why don't you pop home too so you can get your things for this evening?' you suggested. 'Yeah okay...trying to get rid of me?' he joked. You hit him playfully on the arm. 'No, never,' you answered. 'See you in a bit princess,' he said on his way out. You smiled to yourself. 'So he calls you princess now does he?' you heard a voice behind you, 'you've only just met for gods sake.' It was Hoseok. You turned to face him, your smile gone. 'Look, he's allowed to call me whatever he wants. I like it anyway,' you declared, lifting your nose. Hoseok scoffed. 'Please, does he really need to give you a cute nickname already? How did you become friends so quickly? I-I mean even if you did why the nickname? It's pointless,' Hoseok stated. You just shook your head and walked past him. 'I'm going to get some air,' you sighed. 'No!' Hoseok cried, grabbing your arm, 'you can't walk away from me!' You snatched your arm from him. 'Of course I can. What's gotten into you this evening?' Hoseok rolled his eyes. 'Nothing...just don't like other people eyeing my girl,' he said, quieter than before. 'Well I don't like the way you've spoken to me tonight...please, could you try to be a bit more civil?' you asked, itching to leave. He nodded and you walked away, sighing. The guys were talking quietly, they seemed to have broken the tension a bit. There was a balcony to the left of the room and the doors were open. At first you suspected it was just to let some air in, but then you saw Jungkook. He was sitting peacefully on the step with his eyes closed, enjoying the last of the evening sunshine. It bathed him is such a beautiful way that you felt the urge to caress him...even kiss him, but you pushed that thought away quickly. Instead you sat down next to him as quietly as possible, just watching his face as the breeze ruffled his hair. 'Hey y/n,' he said peacefully. He had opened his eyes and was looking at you. You smiled. 'Hi Jungkook...' you said, trying not to sound too flustered. He smiled wider, and your stomach flipped, so you directed your gaze to the setting sun. The warm breeze tickled your face, and the scent of the late summer air filled your nose. You let yourself be at peace with your surroundings, and didn't notice Jungkook still watching your relaxed expression intently. 'Y/n,' he muttered, 'why did you come out here?'
You looked at him, confused by the question. 'Why? Well I needed some air...and it's beautiful out this evening,' you answered. 'It is,' he said, but he wasn't looking at the view. He was looking at you. Looking into your eyes. His seemed to shine even more in the sunset. You blushed profusely and looked away. 'Y/n...this is weird for me, a-actually talking to a...a girl. But with you I feel...I feel more a-at ease,' he cleared his throat, 'I-I wanted to ask you...how your relationship with Hoseok...is.' You bit your lip and looked at the ground. 'Yeah it's fine,' you mumbled. 'Really? Are you sure? I don't mean to pry but...there seems to be some tension between you,' Jungkook tried. You nodded your head slowly. 'Yeah...probably,' you said. Jungkook could tell you didn't want to talk about it, so he decided to drop the matter for a while. You talked about his music and about how you wanted to start producing some of your own. He offered to produce your songs for you, and you were more than happy to agree. 'So what do you write songs about?' Jungkook asked you. 'I'm not sure...whatever comes to mind or feels right I guess,' you answered, tucking your hair behind your ears. 'I used to write about love...because at the start of my relationship with Hoseok that was all I was feeling,' you started, 'but then, it changed. He became more distant, didn't talk to me as much. When we saw each other he would smile and say how beautiful I was or give me a kiss, but we would never talk more than that really. He's been strange recently and I started to suspect I'd done something wrong...but I don't know.' Jungkook shifted his hand towards yours just so your fingers touched. 'I don't know either...but please tell me y/n, are you happy?' he asked gently. You really looked at him properly, a direct but soft stare. He returned the look. 'I was happy today,' you replied. 'But what about yesterday and the day before? Is your relationship still making you happy?' Jungkook pressed. 'I...don't know. I-I can't say,'
'What isn't right then?'
'I just wish Hoseok would talk to me more...he has no time to commit to me anymore it seems,'
'Well now you have us. We are your friends as much as we are his,'
'Thank you,' you said, placing your fingers on top of Jungkook's. He smiled, and it made you feel all fuzzy inside. 'Come visit us often,' he said, so quietly you almost thought you'd imagined it. 'I will come every day if I can,' you whispered back. 'Please...please do that,' Jungkook said tenderly. You took your fingers off his and stood up, walking to the railing of the balcony. The sun was in its final moments, and the golden light shone in your eyes. You felt a hand on your shoulder, then on your hair. Jungkook twirled it around his fingers, soothing you. 'I'm going to get changed. My stuff is already here from a couple of days ago. Don't get too cold,' you heard him say, and his hand dropped from your hair. You could feel his presence was gone, but that was okay. A wave of calm washed over you, and you breathed in the warm air. 'Hey princess,' someone said. You turned around to face Yoongi (who else could it be?). 'Dinner's here, did you miss me?' he asked with a smirk. 'I missed you terribly, don't ever leave me alone for that long again,' you joked. 'It seems you weren't alone though princess...Jungkook was here,' Yoongi said. You rolled your eyes. 'Yes he was, how very observant of you,' you replied. 'I missed you princess, even if I was only gone half an hour,' Yoongi came and put his arm round your waist, and you put yours around his. Taking one last glance at the sunset, you both walked inside.
