Marinette was tapping her pencil against the side of the desk, not even paying attention to her teacher she looked out the window. Waiting for Adrien. She sighed sadly and looked to Alya who was chatting with Nino. Then there he was, Adrien. She smiled, her heart pounding in her chest. "Okay, breathe... You can do this." Adrien sat in his usual seat, turning around. "Hey, Marinette." Adrien smiled warmly. "Okay, maybe after class." Marinette thought as she waved sheepishly with her dorky grin.
Adrien just smiled back and looked to the front. Marinette sighed in relief, as she relaxed in her seat a little. Marinette waited through the lesson, slowly panicking on the inside. The bell rings. "Don't forget to do homework tonight everyone." The teacher informed the class as they all rushed out to lunch. "So are you going to confess to him now Mari?" A sassy voice asked, behind her. Marinette looked around to see Alya. "Yes, yes. I will ask him." Marinette closed her hands into a fist.
"Well good luck girl, he's over there. Go get him." Alya pointed casually to Adrien before walking away with Nino. "See you!" She waved. Marinette nodded. She took awkward long steps towards her crush of 4 years (How long has it been now?) Marinette waved to Adrien. "Adrien, hi!" She mentally rolled her eyes at her weirdness. "Oh, hi Marinette." Adrien sweetly smiled, he was leaning against the wall. Marinette inhaled, then exhaled.
"I uhh, was wondering... If you'd like to go out?" Marinette stuttered, her face heating up from embarrassment. "Oh, like as in friends. Yeah, sure I'd love to." Adrien answered. Marinette lowered her head, playing with the hem of her white shirt. "No, uhh. as lovers..." She muttered. Adrien didn't quite hear her under all the mumbling. "What?" He asked. "Adrien, I-I... Uhh I LIKE YOU!" Marinette blurted out.
Loud enough for mostly everyone to hear her. Everyone was now staring at the two. Adrien just stared blankly at Marinette. Opening his mouth to speak but heistated. "Sorry Marinette, I just don't see you in that way... We can still be friends, right?" Marinette just stared there in shock, she couldn't believe she just confessed her love to Adrien, and literally the whole school heard her getting rejected.
Then someone stepped in, "I told you Adrien doesn't like you, he just isn't good enough for a simple baker like you." Chloe giggled as she walked over to Adrien, glaring at Marinette but with a smirk on her perfect glossy lips. Marinette bit her bottom lip, trying to hide her tears. "It's okay..." Adrien was about to stop Marinette but it was too late, she had ran away.
Marinette ran into the music room, she slowly walked over to the door. She was loudly sobbing to herself. "I'll never be good enough will I?" She rubbed her reddening eyes. Then heard some soft music coming from the other side of the door. "Huh?" She looked up, confused on where the sound was coming from.
"Hello? Who's there?" She questioned. A few minutes passed, then someone spoke. It was a quiet peaceful tone that sounded familiar but Marinette could not remember. "I heard you crying, is everything alright?" The stranger asked, he continued to play the guitar. Marinette could already feel herself calming down.
"I don't really know how to start..." Marinette was now hugging her knees. "The bell doesn't ring for another 30 minutes, I have time." The voice said, Marinette smiled to herself. "Well uhh, there's this guy that I've liked for 4 years, well at first I didn't like him. But that doesn't really matter. I finally had the courage to confess my feelings to him."
Marinette's eyes watered at the memories that just happened today. "Hmm.."
He was still playing the guitar but it wasn't very loud. "And, he rejected me. I was so loud that the whole school heard me." Marinette sniffled as she went on with her story. "Then this girl came up to me saying I wasn't good enough for him. It's probably true. Someone like him would probably love her and not me."
"That's not true, there's always someone for everyone. Even you Marinette..." Marinette could feel herself blushing. "How do you know my name." The stranger chuckled. "I just know you Marinette, you have a beautiful voice." He was now humming a tone. "Thank you for listening to me." He stopped, a second passed. "You're welcome Marinette. You can come in here whenever needed. I'll always be here to listen." Marinette wiped the tears off her cheeks. She got up and walked over to the exit.
She placed her hand on the handle, but then looked back. The person was now playing a new song, that sounded again, really familiar. She opened the door then left, quietly closing the door after her.
The end!
