In the Midst of Death

Chapter One - Adventure in the Making

Looking around me, I could hardly see anything in the pitch black surrounding me. All I could see was Ruben and the others, some of which I don't know, all were hanging and so was I. If I knew how this night would have ended, I would have not went out tonight. I wouldn't have let Ruben go out. Things would have been different and, to think, I started this so-called "adventure" out by just wanting to be with my best friend, Ruben.

Tapping the eraser end of my pencil on my desk, there is only five minutes left of school. I sigh and look around the room, first the dry-erase board with the remainder of our daily lecture in English written all over it. Then to the teacher, sitting at her as she moves things around in her wallet, something that is absolutely irrelevant to me. After watching the teacher scrambling through her wallet for a bit, I look at the clock- one minute left. In my head, I count down the seconds "56..55..54.." and so on.

Getting more impatient by the second, I stand up and grab my stuff. I go up to the teachers desk and watch her until she finally notices that I am standing there wanting to speak to her. "Oh. Hello, Tay" she says smiling as she scrunches her nose, attempting to push up her glasses but it doesn't work out as planned. The teacher stops rummaging through her wallet and speaks up again "Do you need something?" I nod and smile a bit then say "I need to go to the bathroom. Can I just take my stuff because school is almost out for the day?" The teacher nods and I smile even wider in excitement then say "Thank you." I make my way to the door, opening it after reaching it.

Making my way down the hallway, I start to walk faster and the bell goes off overhead. After a second or two, the once empty hall besides me, starts to fill with other students eager to get out of the building just as much as I am. After pushing through the crowd gently but impatiently, I get to the front doors and push through them. I make it outside and stand there waiting for my ride, Ruben. I whisper to myself "Come on Ruben, hurry up." Just as I say "up", Ruben pulls up to me through the carpool area in his mother's red and black Jeep. I smile, excited to see him for the first time since this morning before school started.

Chapter one is done. This is only one of the many chapters that will be put up for this story. I want to see how people react to it and such. The fun has yet to behind and I promise there is more to come.Please no taking my ideas, I plan to work and am working very hard on this story. This is my own work that I cam up with myself, nobody else's and I plan to keep it that way.  Let me know what you guys think below if you read this. Thank you for reading.
