The moment she broke!

Lucy was always such a sweet girl, always smiling and radiating a shine no one else could, however it didn't last forever, her shine slowly wore off and her smiles began to exist less and then not at all. She broke inside and wasn't willing to be put back together, and this...was the reason why!

Standard PoV
Lucy sat at the bar drinking her strawberry milkshake, staring in to the abyss, lost in her thoughts. She was pulled out of her thoughts to the sound of footsteps stopping behind her and a tap on her shoulder, she turned around only to be face to face with Natsu, sighing a little, she stood.

"What's up, Natsu?" Lucy asked the corners of her mouth raising slightly.

"Well..." He started, looking sheepish and staring at the ground, "we've .." He indicated to Erza and Gray standing to the side of him "been thinking that, maybe you should take a break from team Natsu?"

Lucy looked between the three of them for a moment before looking to the ground, her eyes glistening with tears.

"But....why?" she asked, her voice cracking in the process, as he bit back the sobs trying to escape her mouth.

"It's not forever, honest. it's just for a little while, so you can train and become stronger, not that you're weak it's just well, you don't last very long on the battle field"

"And you're always complaining about us destroying stuff and not having enough money for rent so, now you won't have to worry about it" Gray continued in place of Natsu.

Erza looked at the ground for a moment feeling guilt wash over her, but she had to do this, Lucy needed to get stronger!

"We can't always be there to protect you.." Erza started, only to be stopped by a sob escaping Lucy's lips

"Y-you think I need protection?" Lucy asked stuttering slightly at the start, "okay, I'll get stronger! and when I do I get to be a part of team Natsu again, right? Deal?"

All three of them stood in front of her in shock, not expecting her to take it this well, before nodding.

Lucy PoV

I'll get stronger, I'll show them I don't need protecting! I'll show them I can hold my own, I can stay standing when all of them have fallen and are struggling to get back up! I'll show them.

I smiled lightly before retreating and walking to master's office, knocking lightly before walking in, smiling at him as I stood in front of his desk.

"Can you remove my stamp please, I'm leaving the guild to go train, and to become stronger"

I could register the shock on his face, it was obvious he was taken aback by my statement, but he nodded, not questioning me like I thought he would.

"I expect you to come back, my child. the guild will miss you dearly" he said before taking my hand and muttering something, a golden light shone throughout the room. I closed my eyes tightly, the golden light blinding me slightly, when I opened them both the light and my mark were gone.

I thanked him as I left his office, walking down the steps to the door

"Goodbye, my family" I said before leaving them behind me and walking into the bright daylight, set out with a aim! I was ready to train.
