ADELAIDE WAS FINALLY GETTING back the balance in her life. She was sleeping well and feeling less anxious. And when her alarm rang, she actually heard it ring. She took her time to have a nice bath with her favourite salts and fragranced soaps—which caused her to already feel a sense of calmness for the day ahead.
When she got to Eli Weston HQ, she still had fifteen minutes to spare. And even though she considered heading to the cafe across the street to get a coffee and a muffin, she quickly dismissed it—didn't want to risk jinxing her already good day.
"Hi, it's Adelaide again." She says to the receptionist, who was actually the same person from the last time. "I- "
She quickly cuts her off, "Yes, I know. Mrs. Banks made it clear that I had to take you to the HR office this morning. So, you can save the introductions."
"Oh." Adelaide says quietly but Jessica only turned to speak into an intercom. "David, I'll be going up to the 18th floor so can you please cover for me? Alright."
"Follow me." Jessica says as she adjusts the blazer of her skirt suit.
"What, no please?"
"I'm sorry, what was that?"
"What?"
"I thought you said something."
"Of course, I didn't."
The ride took way longer than it actually was for Adelaide as she was full of nerves for her interview, and the receptionist wasn't helping as she kept tapping her heels and huffing impatiently.
"We're here, just walk in through that door." She says pointing to a tall glass door by the left of the hallway.
Adelaide is met by a woman sitting behind a very huge desk with a very bright smile on her face. "Hello, you must be Adelaide." She says as she gets up to give her a handshake.
"Yes, I am." Adelaide says quietly as she sits in one of the cushioned chairs opposite her desk.
"I'm Hannah Banks. The HR manager, and it's a pleasure to meet you."
"Likewise. But first, I would like to apologise for missing the first meeting. Thank you for agreeing to this."
"Of course, I believe in second chances. However, looking at your resume you are extremely qualified. I just don't know if it's for this job." The lady places her interlocked fingers out in front of her on the desk with a serious look on her face.
"Alright, I really appreciate that but I can assure you that I am, Mrs. Banks."
"Adelaide, you have a law degree and if you applied for a job in our legal team then no one would have thought twice about hiring you. It's just that I don't see the connection with a creative director position." Hannah looks at her apologetically.
"I thought you would say that. And so, I brought a few references and experience history that I didn't include in my resume." The sound of papers rustling under Adelaide's fingers filled the quiet room.
"Wow!" Hannah didn't hide the amazement in her eyes once she read through the files that Adelaide placed in front of her. "I didn't know that you were behind the Grunge Project. That is so impressive."
"Thank you, Mrs. Banks."
"So, tell me." She dropped the files and faced Adelaide with a straightened posture. "Why are you so interested in working here?"
"Well, Mrs. Banks, I've been waiting for you to ask me that."
"Please, call me Hannah."

"Hello? Samara, can you hear me clearly now?" Adelaide adjusts the call to speaker after dialling her number again.
"Yeah, Ade." She says quietly. "The sound is kind of better now. So, what's up?"
"I got the job! We've got to go out and do something fun, Sam."
The silence on the other end of the phone caused Adelaide to check the connection and pull her eyebrows together in concern. "Sam? Are you okay? You're not really saying anything."
"Yeah, sure. I think I'm just coming down with something. Don't worry about me."
"I could come over if you want, Sam. Are you sick? Let me help."
Sam only laughs softly. "I'm okay, Ade."
"Alright." She breathes out reluctantly.
"But, you. I'm so happy for you! Have you called June yet?"
"Yeah, I texted her when I got out but she has back to back meetings today. About the job, I really thought I wasn't going to get it because she wasn't so sure at first but after I showed her that I was behind the Grunge Project she made a complete 180."
"You see! I told you that you should have included that from the start. It was the biggest art exhibition at college. I'm pretty sure people are still talking about it. You're pretty talented, Ade."
"Aww." Adelaide coos. "Thanks a lot, Sam. I love you! Are you sure you don't want me to come over, we can just chill?"
"Maybe another day? But make sure that you do something fun today, promise?"
"I promise." She lets out a sigh before hanging up. Adelaide was still in her car, parked in the lot of the office building. She was so happy that she had to call someone and now she wondered how she was going to spend the rest of her day.

Don't worry this is only one part.
I hate the fact that this chapter has to end like this but I'll be uploading the second part in a few days, so I guess that makes it a tad better.Don't forget to vote or leave a comment!
