Her:
I remember that night too, I was waiting for my friend to come to my room, so we can study together for an exam. I remember coming back earlier that day from a trip to visit my mother.
It was a lovely day, the weather was perfect for a picnic, for two lovers to run around the gardens in the back of the dorm house, but the headmistress wouldn't allow such thing, girls and boy are not to be seen together in the garden.
I waited for a very long time, and when my friend didn't show up, I fell asleep, hours later I remember waking up, looking through the window, for some reason people were running to the streets, I thought they were playing a game, hide and seek maybe!
I looked down and I saw him, looking at me, he's never looked at me before, and now Its like I was on fire and he couldn't help but see, his eyes grew wider and wider until his friend pulled him back, he pointed at me but then he ran away. I never understood that, was he trying to call me to come down and play with them, was he trying to scare me.
I woke up the next day, got dressed and went down, it was quiet, empty for a second, like when someone turns the air conditioner off and everyone notices it was on. New people came to the Hostel , they had interesting taste in clothes, but I didn't mind.
I met a boy named Jeff, he was sweet and always had a smile on his face, I met twin sisters who had pretty clothes on at all times, they were quite yet they loved playing tricks, I met a girl who's boyfriend promised to marry her, but then he disappeared, I tell her its not worth crying over, but what do I know of love, It seems that love kills people from the inside sometimes, Its as bad as the lack of sleep, which speaking of, I met four men who never sleep, they speak of things and people from strange lands, they speak of god's voice running through their ears and the damned in hell screaming to them.
I had never been a social being, but with these new friends I felt this free to speak express myself in all kinds of ways.
They feel sad though, whenever I ask about the people who lived before them, how they left me alone, so I don't bring it up, it's all in the past now.
That day I was walking with the twins in the corridors, they taught me a new game, we must walk in a continuous circle from right to left and whoever changes their path for some reason loses.
I don't understand the game, but I still walk with them.
I felt tired from walking around all day that I sat on a bench overlooking the garden, a girl came and sat next to me, she came closer and whispered: someone is looking at you.
Her cold breath tickled my ear as the words came out of her mouth, when I looked up I saw him, holding a phone, looking into the window, at me.
My friends gathered with anticipation and said: will he join us tonight?
He knocks on the door twice, and then a third time shortly after.
I opened the door and smiled. He talks as though he's afraid of something like he was hiding in the woods and it followed him all the way here, he held me tightly with his hands, crushing my arms, what are you doing here? Are you alone He joked, I smiled and pretended to go with the game, I live her I responded.
This is no place for the living.
He's been saying that for some time now. He'd walk out of the house for a while and come back all flustered and distracted, I keep telling him not to leave but he always feels like there's something out there. maybe he's looking for our old friends, he's not fond of the new ones. He pretends not to see them, and they pretend he's not dead..
