Chapter Two

I yawned, waking up with fatigue, most likely from yesterday's events. I didn't want to think about it, so I reluctantly dragged myself out of bed. I knew I looked like a mess. My stomach rumbled, and I had to try to find something to eat. Nothing, nothing and more nothing. I got myself fully awake up by getting dressed. I found my older Navy Blue long sleeve shirt and threw it on, I rolled up my sleeves, so I could handle my bow better, I got a pair of pants on, and a really awesome sleeveless Hoodie I found here that's my size. I looked outside to see if any dead ones were around. Nope. I headed out with my bow.

I spent about a half an hour looking through an old neighborhood park for anything. Yes. A squirrel. I snuck behind an old torn up wooden bench, and I loaded my bow. I aimed slowly and quietly. I could feel the morning breeze as it brushed across my face. I release my arrow. It plunges through the squirrel right into the ground."Got 'em." I whispered to myself.

Ah, a slowly cooked squirrel over a nice warm fireplace. This is the life. I laughed at the thought of that.

After I finished breakfast I was about to go out for more supplies. I was dressed already so that just leaves me with trying to find the right size bag to bring. I had one large bag and one medium bag. I ended up grabbed my medium sized one, realizing I couldn't carry the large one loaded with stuff for long. I got my bow and quiver full of arrows and headed out of this town for a bit.

As I got farther out I started to check the house near me, almost everything is looted. I did manage to find some canned and powdered soup. Both were like a gold mine to me. I found quite a bit in the next house, a flashlight with some batteries, a solar chargeable light, and some more canned products. I'd say that little run was a win. As I got closer to my base, I find 4 dead ones eating something. I can't tell what. It looks like a deer. I reach for an arrow, then I stopped. I don't need to do this I thought to myself. I continued on.

"Thank god it's a sunny day today", I whispered with a smile, as I grabbed my solar light I just got. I climbed up to the roof of my base, and placed the light up top letting the sun strike it as it charged. I get inside and realized I was getting hungry again. I put the canned soup in a pot and heated it over a fire. It was a little burned, but it was edible.

After I finished eating, I made my way to the Bedroom with a book I found here. "Moby Dick." I laughed, because I always refused to read that in school for the longest time before all this. It was better then I thought so far. I was just about to sit on my cozy bed, when, the banging started again. "Just one day? One day without them, please" I whispered.

I went to see what's going on, when, I heard voices. I couldn't make out what they're saying. But it was people. Living people, not the dead ones. I didn't know what to do, I've never prepared for this before. I grab my bow and quiver, and hide in the bedroom, glancing out the window. It was a man and a women, trying to bust the door open.

*BAM* I heard as the door broke open. "Shit" I whispered to my self. They got in.
