We all stand over a map as Caspian explains: 'Since you left, the Giants of the North surrendered unconditionally... then we defeated the Calormen armies at the Great Desert. There is peace across all of Narnia.'
'Peace?' Neil questions.
'In just three years', Caspian confirms
'And have you found yourself a queen in those three years?' I tease the Telmarine King.
'No', he smiles sadly, 'Not one to compare with your sister.'
'Hang on. If there are no wars to fight... ', Peter states, still confused, 'and no one is in trouble, then why are we here?'
'It's a good question', Caspian states, 'I've been asking myself the same thing. '
'So where are we sailing to?' Peter continued, looking at the map.
'Before I took back the throne from my uncle...', Caspian explains, 'he tried to kill my father's closest friends and most loyal supporters. The seven lords of Telmar. They fled to the Lone Islands. No one has heard from them since.'
Peter goes to stand in front of the drawings of the lords Caspian had talked about before turning back to Caspian.
'So you think something has happened to them?' Peter clarifies.
'Well, if it has, it's my duty to find out.' Caspian states determinedly.
Then I notice: 'Well, what's east of the Lone Islands?' I ask pointing at that point on the map.
'Uncharted waters', the captain tells me, 'Things you can barely imagine. Tales of sea serpents and worse.
'Sea serpents?' Peter says, trying to hold his laughter.
'All right, Captain... that's enough of your tall tales.' Caspian tells the captain before biting in an apple.
After the meeting in the maproom had ended I wondered around the deck, until I heard a song. I following it until I saw Reepicheep on top of the head of the dragon, statue in front of the ship.
'Where sky and water meet
Where the waves grow ever sweet
Doubt not, you Reepicheep
To find all that you seek
There is the Utter East
Doubt not...'
I go to stand between the two horns of the dragon statue, 'That's pretty.'
'Oh! Thank you', Reep says startled, 'A dryad sung it to me when I was just a mouseling. I can't divine the meaning, but I've never forgotten the words.'
'What do you think is past the Lone Islands, Reep?' I ask him.
'Well, I've been told the furthest east one can sail is to the end of the world. Aslan's country.'
'Do you really believe there's such a place?' I ask smiling.
'Well, we have nothing, if not belief', Reep states as a matter-of-fact.
'Do you think you could actually sail there?'
'Well, there is only one way of finding that out. I can only hope I will one day earn the right to see it. Your Majesty.' we both laugh lightly at this. Reep moves back to his original spot on the nose of the dragon. I look down to see water dryads. They jump in and out of the water like dolphins. They wave at me, I wave back.
Behind me I hear the clashing of swords, I walk back to the main deck to see Peter and Caspian sparing.
'Come on', a crewman cheers.
