Prologue – News Report.
“Good morning, today is Friday, the 14th of November. our top story this morning: The missing American aircraft: DC-146 arrived at Miami airport last night at 22:30 PM. Airport staff and passengers at the airport were stunned when the aircraft landed on the runway without any warning or notice. The passenger plane had been missing for several months after vanishing over Kansas before its appearance last night. Police cars and news vans soon turned up at the airport as the passengers, flight staff and pilots were forced to depart the aircraft on the runway. Here's our on-scene reporter, Michael Konrad, with more.”
“Thank you. Well, as you can see, the plane that was missing for months with 239 passengers and staff is sitting right behind me on the Miami airport runway. Now, we managed to get an interview with some of the passengers as they were waiting in the airport early this morning and found out that all of them seemed to be in total disbelief. They seemed rather shocked when we told them that it was November, 2014, and not March, which was the date they believed it was. Unfortunately, we weren't able to get any interviews with them as they were taken away by the police. So as far as we can tell, all of the passengers, we don't know about the pilots or staff, but we do know that the passengers are not aware that several months have passed since they boarded the plane. Back to you at the studio.”
“Thank you, Michael. We'll have more on this story as it develops. Stay tuned.”
Chapter One – One Week Later – James Kaplan
“What do you remember?”, the man in the suit asks James in the interrogation room, clutching his hands together and placing them firmly on the metallic table.
“Sir, I've answered this question a million times: I boarded the plane in Seattle and got off in Miami. I don't know what else to tell you!”
“Mr Kaplan, the plane you boarded was missing for eight months before it landed. Eight months! How do you think that's possible?”
“You've said that already! I don't know what else to tell you, I was on that plane for 5, maybe 6 hours and then we landed!”
“Then why has it been eight months since it took off?”
“I don't know! Listen to me, I'm as confused as you are to as why this has happened, but I don't remember anything. Please, just let me out of here and let me go home to my family. I need to see them again!”
“Why were you in Malaysia, Mr Kaplan?”
“I was on a business trip!”
“What type of business trip?”, the man asks sternly.
“Don't you already have this on file?”
“Answer the question, Mr Kaplan.”
“I'm not answering anything until you let me out of this building!” James slams his fist down onto the table and flinches his body forward towards the man, “Now I don't know what happened on that plane or why it took so long for us to land, but I can assure you that I won't be telling you a damn thing until you let me go!”
The man sighs and straightens his black tie, “This interview is over. You can return to your room,” he says calmly, standing up and opening the door.
“I need to go home!”
“For now, you're not allowed that right. Until you give us suitable information or enough time has passed, you will remain in this building.”
