She was lost. Afraid. Hollow. Or at least she felt this way about herself. Abby was only shy. Not lost. Not afraid. And not hollow. She had a wonderful family. She lived in a cabin in the woods packed away from a small village. Her Father, Mother and baby brother accompanied her. They were'nt rich, but they didnt care as long as they had eachother. But Abby thought she wasn't good enough for them. She thought she was a nusience to them as she tried her best to be the best daughter that anyone has ever seen. And she was. She did what her parents told her to, She did good in her 5th grade classes, and she took extreme care for her baby brother, Winston. But she didnt think it was enough.

One day, Abby's parents were out in the village getting as much food they could out of the small amount of money they put together. They simply put Abby in charge of watching Winston while they were out, Knowing that she would be okay with handling the small task. Abby said she loves her parents as they walk out the door. "Goodbye, Abigail. We"ll be back in a short time." Her father had said.

But they never came back. For two days, the time it took to go to the village and back,  they said they'd be gone. Three had passed. Then four. And then five. By the time the week had ended, Abby and Winston were completely out of anything that could be considered as food.

Where are they? Abby wondered for the most of the week they had been gone. She walked into their bedroom and walked to her mother and fathers bed. On their nightstand was a jar with old coins for emergency. Well i guess this is an emergency. Abby thought, as she dug her hand in the jar, collecting coins and putting them in a sack that she tied gently around her waist.

She grabbed Winston and put him in a blanketed basket that would keep him warm in the late fall air. as she wrapped a shawel around herself, she saw an old trinket on her mother nightstand. It was a gold neckless with a bird chain that she had only seen her mother wear once, which was Abbys grandmothers funeral 2 years prior. She grabbed the necklace and wrapped it around her neck, and then tucking it beneath her warm shawel.

She turned to grab Winston in his carrier, and then headed out the door into the icy wind.

"Fresh bread! Fresh bread for sale!"

"Please, I don't have any money!

"Now hiring! Come now for a new job!"

"Get your paper here! Get all of the news here!"

Abby was bustled around by strangers as she struggled through the Crowded village. She had never been to the village, only told stories of it by her parents, who laughed along with her.

"Whats a young lady like you doing here?" An old women said out of nowhere. Her eyebrows were furrowed allong with her wrinkled, kind face. She had a genuin, curious look on her face as she bent down to Abbys hight.

"I'm getting food for my family." She said as she gestured to Winston, whom was struggling to sleep in the basket.

"Did your parents send you out here?" She asked, concerned.

"No, I came here on my own. My parents went her a week ago and haven't returned. I was hoping I would find them. And me and my brother are out of food." Abby explained. She and the woman began to converse and soon enough, Abby was telling her entire situation to the old lady.

"My, thats terrible. Would you like any help darling?" The old lady asked.

"As long as it doesnt trouble you, Yes please."

"Very well. Follow me." The old woman said.

And Abby did.
