"Sabre, hurry up! We gotta go!" My older brother Cyrus hollered. "If you don't get down here in the next thirty seconds, we're leaving your butt behind!"
"Yeah yeah, I'm coming." I shouted back, picking up the few small boxes that I had left in my room. I hurried down the old creaking stairs and rushed to the truck along with my dad, my brothers and our eight week old king charles, Barley.
Today was the day that we were finally moving out of this home we call hell, and into a new place that I can hopefully call "paradise". I hate everything about this place. The rude and disgusting people, the old, falling apart buildings, and most importantly, all the history of this living hell. I've been wanting to move for the longest time, now seven years later, its finally that time. A brand new start to this place we now call, "home".
This house is pretty nice considering that I've only seen pictures of it, and apart from the fact that it looks really similar to the old house and that I have to share a bathroom with my three brothers that is. I love them all to the ends of the earth, but they can be a handful and a pain in my ass at times.
Cyrus is the oldest being seventeen feels like he can push us around, but he also has a protective side to him which is both a blessing and a curse. Chaylin is thirteen nearly fourteen and is probably the worst the three of them. He is the messiest person to ever live with and will have an attitude because he finally hit puberty. He's nice when he wants to be, he just doesn't like showing it. And Cayleb being twelve is the loudest person out of everyone in the family. His energy level is off the charts and the only way to shut him is to either give him something to mess around with or giving him food. And me, I can be a little bit of everything, from sweet and sassy to being the biggest pain in your behind.
The car ride felt like it was taking forever, but the only thing that I was focused on was the moon. I'm not sure when or why I got so interested in the moon, but I am and I'm pretty sure I have an obsession with it. For as long as I can remember, the night sky was my best friend, the thing that I would go to first when I wanted to take a break from the world. I would just sit outside to hours, laying in the grass in the beautiful light of the moon. Just something about it calmed me.
Most of the four and a half hour car ride was a daze after the moon set off into the distance. All I remember was messing with the long scar across my right hand and the ride actually being quiet because everyone was sleeping, aside from Dad, then falling asleep not to long after the moon falls back to the darkside of the earth.
When I woke up, I stared out the window, looking at the moving city that we'd be living in until I'd probably graduated. From the looks of everything, this place looks a lot nicer than the one back at the old house. No broken, falling apart buildings, just clean and new looking shops and newly built houses. Everything looks so much brighter here.
After what felt like an eternity, we finally made it to our new home. Slowly, I got out the car and stretched out my legs then headed to the back of the truck to grab my stuff from the back. I heard my dad open the door as he started shouting at the boys to get their lazy butts up and grab their stuff from the truck. I turtle-walked my way to the door as my dad followed not too long after me. As he open the door, I walked it, then stopped in my tracks just to stare at the empty space of the house.
The house was quite bigger than I expected it to be, but in a good way because we need all the extra space. Some of the boxes are in a few of the rooms because Dad was here a couple of days ago to have an early start on things.
I headed up the stairs, nearly falling and taking all the boxes with me, but I just managed to find my balance and find my room. As I set foot inside the blank room, I noticed there was a skylight with a ladder to the roof, and I was obviously going to use that very soon. I placed the boxes next to the door and sat down, looking around to figure out how I was going to set up my room. All I saw was a blank canvas, and I was setting up how I was going to paint my masterpiece.
