Ring. Ring. Ring.
Ring. Ring.
"Hello?" I whispered to my phone, after looking at my alarm clock. It read 2:23 pm in neon green lighting.
"Adam? Adam? Ar-Are you awake?"
"Yes, Hannah. I am now."
"It happened again, Adam. He won't talk to me. He won't talk to me, Adam. I don't know what I did, or what I can do-"
I could barely hear because she was crying so hard, but I knew what it was regarding. The same thing she always called me at 2 in the morning about .
" What happened Hannah?" I asked her softly.
" He was ignoring me for weeks. And I got mad at him, and yelled at him. It was all over text and he won't talk to me now. He said he's sick of it, and that he doesn't want to deal with it right now. I don't know what to do."
Her sobs started getting louder, and I swear she had a megaphone making her cry louder into the phone.
" Hannah. Remember that he has been doing this, he always does this over and over again. Don't you remember last month when he did the same thing, and you cried every day he didn't call you?"
" Yea-Yeah. I remember.. Adam?"
"Yes?"
"Where are you?" she asked quietly.
"In my bed..why?"
"Can you come pick me up? I walked by myself to the park a couple hours ago, and it's scary and dark-" she kept going on and on.
I interrupted her. "I'll be there in 10."
I threw on my jeans, and maroon sweatshirt, and grabbed my keys on my nightstand next to my alarm clock. (2:47pm.) I snuck up the stairs, and quietly opened the back door that lead outside.
A few minutes later, I pulled up to the park. It was almost impossible to see, so I followed the sound of crying until I figured out where she was. She was sitting in the grass, holding her knees tightly as she shook back and forth. I bent down and lifted her up into my arms, but she screamed in fright and I accidentally dropped her and fell forward. She looked at me, and realized that it was me and started to laugh. I grinned at her, " Oh, that was supposed to happen." She rolled her eyes at me as she continued to giggle, and helped me up. She gave me a warm hug, and whispered into my ear, "Thank you for being there for me." I didn't say anything back, but instead hugged back tighter. We walked back in silence to my car, until I opened her car door for her and she thanked me. I jumped into the driver seat, and turned the heat on, before turning to her. " Now we need to talk."
