The next two classes dragged like you wouldn't even imagine. I couldn't help but keep watching the clock. Luckily for me, both classes were already assigning homework, so that kept me occupied for a little while. Soon the bell rang, and I stood up as quickly as I could and headed for the hallway.
"Camille, wait for me." I stop dead in my tracks as I hear his voice. No one calls me that except for my family.. and one other person. I continue walking but look behind me quickly. It was my ex-boyfriend, Liam.
"What do you want, Liam?" I say, still speed walking towards my health science class.
"I want you back, Camille. I'm so sorry, baby. I should have never let Kim kiss me."
I stop and turn around to face him. "She has been chasing after you for months. You said you two were just friends, and then she makes a move and you don't try to stop her!?" I say, trying not to tear up.
He thinks for a quick second and then suddenly grabs my wrist and pulls me into an empty classroom. "Camille, I-"
"Don't you say it." I say, holding back tears. "If you loved me then you would have stopped her and put an end to your friendship."
Liam takes a deep breath and then stares at me with his big brown eyes. "I do love you. I have loved you since we were in diapers. Our parents always said we were going to grow up and get married." He looks down at his feet. "I am so sorry, my love. Please forgive me."
I take a deep breath and turn around, facing away from him. "You are my best friend and you always have been. I don't want to lose that." Liam puts his hand on my shoulder. I turn around to face him almost immediately. I'm only inches away from his face. "How about we go over to your house and talk some more after school?"
He nods several times. "I would love that, Camille." He hugs me and lifts me off the ground, then places me back down. "I'll see you later, babe."
As he walks away, I glance at my watch. Oh, crap!! I'm almost late to my health science class! I start running down the hall. Luckily, I'm only a few more rooms down. I jog in quickly and take my seat next to Mia. As soon as I see her, I can't contain my joy of getting back with Liam so I start scribbling her a note.
Omg guess what!!! Liam & I were talking in the halls & he wants 2 get back together w/ me!! We are going 2 his place after school 2 talk more.
I fold up the note quickly and shove it into her lap when the teacher isn't looking. She reads it right away and then looks up at me with her mouth open. She starts writing back right away. Once she's done, she throws it onto my desk and I begin to open it up.
Omg cami! Give me the deets during lunch. Are u ok? Do u forgive him for cheating? When did you guys talk today?
I quickly write back to her.
I will give u all the details at lunch. Just remember, he's been my best friend since we were toddlers. U can't just let go of something like that.
After reading my note, she nods at me and we go back to reality. The teacher is just now starting attendance. I look toward the front of the room. The teacher, Mrs. Barnes, is probably in her early 30s. "Now class, when I call your name please raise your hand and say 'here' nice and loud." She looks down at her paper. "Rachel LaChane?"
"Here."
"Timothy Ryker?"
"Here."
"Stephanie Beaker?"
"Here."
"Mia Hunters?"
"Here!"
"Christopher Reynard?"
"Here."
"Madison Puckers?"
"Here."
              "Dylan Campbell?"
        "Here."
               "Camille Bennett?"
          "Here!"
"Okay, let's get right to work." Mrs. Barnes walks around the room, making eye contact with all of us. "As you know, you will be interning at Little Frogs Doctors Practice during the school year. None of you are doctors yet, so that means you will not be allowed to treat anyone. Right now. I will hand out a paper with a list of all your tasks as an intern." She quickly hands them out to the eight of us.

Tomorrow, you will have two hour training time on how to properly answer the phones, then after school you will have your first day. Now let's get started."
                                 *********
The bell rings and I pick up my bag. This was an intense first day. It's going to be a great year, I just know it. As I walk down the hallway, Liam jogs up to me. "Hey, beautiful." His voice made me smile immediately. Liam and I had been dating since the seventh grade, when he confessed he had a crush on me. It wasn't until three months ago when this all started. Kim, has always had a crush on Liam. I just know it. She began flirting with him and following him everywhere, and then one day finally made her move. "Earth to Camille?"
I shake my head real fast. "Sorry."
"Let's go, we'll drive to my house." He says, wrapping his arm around me. I twist to face him.
"Actually, my parents bought me a new car. So I'll have to follow you." I say to him.
"Really?? That's great, Camille." He leans down and kisses my forehead, sending tingles through my body. I missed that. "I'll see you in a few minutes." I couldn't speak at that moment, so I nodded my head and he turned towards the parking lot. I turned left and went towards my car. I got in and put on my seatbelt. All of a sudden someone bangs on my driver side window and I jump a little. I look up and see Kim. I roll down the window just a little bit.
"Can I help you?" I say to her, rolling my eyes.
"I know you're getting back together with Liam." She says quietly. I stare at her with a blank face, waiting for her to say more. "I just wanted to say sorry. I don't know what I was thinking. Maybe I was jealous." She takes a deep breath and continues rambling. "You always get the lead spot, I tried so hard to be captain and get into that program and I couldn't do it. And you have this gorgeous boyfriend-" I narrow my eyes at her. "I'm sorry, it's just that I wanted what you had." She says, finally finishing her pathetic speech.
"Look, Kim, what you did was pretty unforgivable. We were friends, how could you do this to a friend? I accept your apology and I'll no longer give you dirty looks in the halls but we are not friends anymore."
"Doesn't matter anyway," Kim says, "I'm moving to Arizona." I shrug, then roll up my window and back out of my spot quickly. Real friends don't get jealous of you, they support you. I can't wait to tell Mia this later. I drive past a few more streets and finally reach the end of the road. Liam's house is right at the end and looks like king of the street. I park my car behind Liam's and then send a quick text to my mom saying where I am. Liam walks over and opens the door for me.
"Hey, beautiful." He says beaming at me. "Let's go inside." I nod and follow him in. As per usual, the house is empty and it's just us inside. Liam's parents are also Marine Biologists and travel pretty often. When we were younger, Liam had a nanny most of the time. When he was fifteen he finally convinced his parents he was capable of taking care of himself. "Do you want something to eat, Camille?"
I think for a quick second. "How about some of your famous Grilled Peanut butter and Jelly?"
He smiles. "Of course, that's your favorite, babe." He begins pulling out the things he needs to make the sandwiches and turns on the stove. I sit in a high stool at his bar table.
I stare at him for a while, as he cooks. "I don't want to talk about it." I say abruptly. Liam looks at me, confused. "I just want to put this past us and move on. I love you, Liam. You're my best friend." I think for a second. "And plus I don't think I have to worry about her anymore."  Liam walks around the counter quickly and I hop off the stool.
    "You mean it?"
       "Yes."
He pulls me in for a hug and kisses me on the lips. This is the first time since the incident. I close my eyes and kiss him back. Little sparks are flying throughout my body. My parents were right, I really am going to marry this guy.
