This neighborhood wasn't the best neighborhood to be in at night. scratch that, it's not a very good neighborhood at any time. Everything about this neighborhood was unstable and disgusting. Almost everyone is armed and you shouldn't look down when walking on the sidewalk. Trust me, I know everything about this place. I've lived here for most of my life. My parents hated me and almost always abused me. My home life wasn't so great and neither were my friends home life. Both Sadie and Andrew know what it's like to be abused and taken advantage of.
My name is Sam Parker and I have been born in an awful neighborhood. Many times I have tried to end my life. I have multiple failed attempts at suicide. Why won't the demons or angels let me join them? Anyway, right now it's midnight and my parents just fell asleep. Now it was time for me to sneak out of my room. I opened the window as quietly as I could, but it still made a creaking sound. I heard my one of my parents wake up so I jumped out of the window quickly and ran for it. I ran to the alley way behind a convenience store I usually meet my friends at.
Once I got there I stopped running and panted heavily. My friends looked and me with worried expressions; I had snuck out hundreds of times with no problem. I almost fell to the ground because of exhaustion but thankfully Andrew caught me. "Are you ok, dude?" He asked.
"My parents...woke up...we need...to get...going..." I said out of breathe.
"Don't worry, we're leaving tonight..." Sadie spoke up.
I sighed out a huge breathe and got out of Andrews arms. (That's pretty gay) I grabbed the bag I brought with me. "Ok, listen up, here's our plan...We aim the guns at the cashier and you'll grab a bunch of food and drinks and put them in the bags...then we make a break for it." Sadie said.
We nodded and then grabbed what we needed. We then proceeded to rush inside of the store. They aimed the guns at the cahier as I ran to the food isles. They kept threating him as I got the food and drinks. When I was done getting it we all heard police sirens. 'Damn I took to long...' I thought to myself.
I ran over to my friends who had smirks on their faces. "So, the police are here huh?" Andrew started. "Let's give 'em a show.." Sadie finished. The cops shot at them and I ducked my friends shot back at them. I ducked while they fought off the cops and injured some of them. Sadie got shot in the arm and almost fell over. I caught her and handed her gun to Andrew. I carried her out the back door and into the alley way which was surrounded by the police. Sadie and I climbed up to the roof and Andrew crawled out of the vent. Andrew took Sadie and carried her on his back; giving her a piggyback ride.
"You up for some roof jumping'? " Andrew asked.
"What other choice do we have? let's go!" I yelled.
Andrew laughed and jumped from one roof to another while I followed behind him. He managed to carry Sadie while jumping to different roofs of buildings. Soon enough the police lost us as we hid on the roof of one buildings. Somehow managed to stay out of the helicopters view. Once we were out of sight Andrew began to treat Sadie's wound. He two some tweezers out of a first aid kid. "Sadie, this is gonna hurt a lot." Andrew told her.
Sadie nodded as he used them to get the bullet out of her arm. She hissed in pain but didn't cry; she had been through much worse. He got the bullet out of her arm and then he bandaged up her arm. "Andrew, how did you get so good at that?" I asked.
"Kid, I had to learn how to bandage myself in order to live." he responded. He called me 'kid' because I am a bit younger than him. By a bit, I mean about five years younger than him and Sadie. Their home life wasn't very different from mine but theirs were much worse. I don't understand how they haven't given up yet. "how do you guys stay so strong" I muttered.
"What do you mean?" Sadie asked.
I froze because I didn't think they would hear me. They didn't really like talking about me wanting to just end it all. "Have you ever felt like giving up at one point?" I asked.
They frowned and then Sadie spoke "We did at one point...now it's different...we wanna find ways to survive...if we give up...then that means the world has won...It'd gotten exactly what it wanted if you killed yourself..."
Me and Andrew where just listening to her talk. Andrew was agreeing to almost everything she was saying. Everything went silent after she finished talking. Andrew was looking around cautiously; making sure no police were around. "We'll stay here for tonight, in the morning we'll take the train and get out of here." Andrew said. We all went to sleep after a few more minutes of checking to see if the police were near by.
