Splash! That was the only thing you could see everywhere. Rain. It covered everything. It was impossible to see anything. Rain. It was all you could hear as it splashed against the tops of peoples houses and crashed against the floor making puddles bigger than they were before. Rain. It was depressing. The only people who truly loved it were children. Jumping up and down spraying mud all over their parents. Most children have done it at least once in their life. Before it all started there were grey storm clouds covering the whole sky for the entire day yesterday. They were monsters- stopping the suns rays reaching us and making the world cold. However today, the monster is the rain. Covering adults and the paperwork some of them have worked hard to write and then leaving to suffer in the aftermath.
The aftermath was what was impacting Amy's life today. She was not having a good day today. Earlier today she went for an interview to get a job as a maths teacher. It was lucky she didnt want to be an English teacher because she was mixing all her words up and nearly fell flat on her face as she first walked through the door. Her excitement had given her butterflies at the last second. After that catastrophe she was told that she would be informed about if she had got the job in three weeks. Then, as she stepped out of the school building, it started raining but this wasnt normal rain that was coming down; no, this was a downpour of rain and Amy only had her thin raincoat on. Therefore, she pulled her hood all the way over her head and snuggled into her coat after a cold shiver went down her spine. The whole street outside of the school was deserted; it was like a ghost town from the movie Amy watched a couple of days ago. As it was so dark all the houses down the street had their lights on and as the streetlights turned on, Amy noticed how afraid she was feeling. She walks down this street almost every day yet today as it was only midday and yet it was so dark and cold, she hardly recognised it. She came to the entrance of the park and noticed that the lights had not yet turned on. The children were rapidly approaching the entrance, screaming, leaving the field just like everywhere else; deserted. Suddenly a silent thunder like noise came from close by which made Amy look down at her stomach. She was hungry. In a rush to get to her interview she had completely forgotten to eat some breakfast and now her stomach was giving her pay back for her forgetfulness. As she started running home, the storm clouds began to follow her.

The birds were singing as Amys was chasing her brother. The sun was shining so the Kristling family were having a barbeque. The sky was clear as there was no cloud in sight. The sun was being kind to the Kristling family and had been giving them sun for last three hours and didn't look like it was going anywhere anytime soon. Earlier, the family had had a water fight and they dried off quickly and they didnt even get that cold. Now, Amy and her brother, Danny, were chasing each other with Max and Daisy chasing after them. Daisy is the Kristlings pet poodle that Amy had been given for her birthday whilst Max was their new golden retriever puppy that they had gotten for Dannys birthday two months ago. Amy and Dannys mum was trying to work the barbeque for her second time whilst their dad was ignoring their mums complaints as he was at his favourite part in his book whilst sunbathing.

Inside the Kristlings house, Danny and his dad were playing connect 4 whilst his mum was doing a crossword at the dining room table. Thunder was heard outside of the house which frightened Amy's mum as she was worrying about Amy catching a cold as she only saw her leave with her raincoat. The atmosphere in the room was contagious; it was miserable and made the air felt thick with it. The door burst open as Amy ran into the house and then threw her coat off and shoved it into the washing basket in the kitchen before starting to make herself a sandwich. She walked to the sofa- sat down and as she looked out of the window, she thought of that sunny day she had with her family only a few weeks ago. Realising that she didnt take the dogs out for a walk when she had told her mum that she would, she looked out the window and realised that the rain had slowed down, she got up and grabbed a thicker coat along with the dogs leads. Then Amy and her dogs went on an adventure in the rain.
After the adventure was finished and the dogs were drenched after Max was bouncing into every puddle he could see and covering Daisy, the trio made it home. Ten minutes after Amy and the dogs walking through the door, the sun had come out even though it was still raining. Danny wanted to go out since he didnt have anything else to do and the rest of the family thought they would join since they too had nothing better to do. It also sounded fun. As the family made their way towards their back garden, they bumped into Danny who had a massive grin on his face. He grabbed Amys wrist and dragged her outside and told her to look up. Looking up she saw a rainbow! That explains why he didnt point at it since he points at everything and everyone. This made Amy smile. Storm clouds can have their silver lining. This made Amy realise something. Rain. It is almost always seen as a bad weather forecast but it can bring a family closer together. Either stuck in a house or sliding in mud after it has rain (or during). This day didnt turn out to be as Amy thought. Rain. It was both bitter and sweet. It could ruin someones day or make it. Storm clouds can to. It just depends on your view. It could end your day with a splash!

The storm
Short StoryYears ago, as school work, I was told to write a short story called "the storm" or "blame". You can guess which I chose. It isn't the greatest story as I had to concentrate more on what techniques I was putting in, not the actual story itself, but I...
