Evie was crying. Her face was unnaturally clear of make up. Even though tears streamed down her face she looked still beautiful. Carlos sighted. He did not like seeing his friends like that. Mal sat unusually silent in the rooms corner and Jay had close to no energy. Oddly, he even skipped Tourney practice. From his spot Carlos could overlook all of his friends but he felt weird. Something was not right. Still not used to his situation he recalled that he could do nothing to cheer his friends up and he closed his eyes not wanting to see his friends deprived faces.
Blinded by the sun Carlos opened his eyes. The light shining in through the window. Outside he could make out his friends forms. Happily, Carlos skipped out of the room. The door already open. He couldn't wait to spend time with them and staying at their sides. In the shadows under the trees Carlos stood smiling at Evie, Mal, Jay and Dude. They were sitting a few feet away from him just relaxing. Doing what they loved. Mal drew a picture of the Core Four, Evie was designing a new dress and Jay brought a ball to play with Dude. But it felt weird. Something was missing. There were no smiles on their face and Carlos wanted nothing more than see their blinding smiles. After all it was a beautiful day.
Over the past couple days nobody has seen King Ben. He had locked himself into his office drowning in his work. Carlos sat on one of the soft couches in the king's office. Silence. No sound was made by either of them. With sad eyes Carlos looked over to the king. Ben had dark bags under his eyes as if he hadn't been sleeping very well. Or at all, Carlos thought. Slowly, he stood up and walked over to the window searching for words he knew would not be listened to. Somehow, Carlos had to find a way to get Ben out of his office. And he just had an idea on how to accomplish his desire. Rapidly, he left the office in search of a small, furry creature who never failed to cheer one up. But where was he? Could he be with Jane? Carlos decided to try his luck and went to the fairy's room. Carefully, he stepped over the threshold as to not startle anyone. Immediately his eyes found a small brown furball who was sitting next to Jane's desk looking bored. After being spotted by him, he greeted Carlos with a happy bark. Carlos signaled the small dog to follow him and together they started to run to Ben's office.
At the door, Dude demanded to be let in by whining, barking and scratching. Finally, something seemed to move behind the door and suddenly the door opened. Ben looked at Dude with red eyes and the little dog pranced around Ben's legs. Slowly, Ben took the leash and walked Dude. Carlos watched them smiling.
Mal, Evie, Jay and Ben could not come with Carlos but neither could he stay. He knew their smiles would come back. After one last look at his friends Carlos turned around and he was gone. The same moment Dude released a pained howl. The wind carried a faint whisper. One last time they heard the voice.
