I’m going through another sleepless night. I haven’t been sleeping lately even though I’m tired. I keep having this feeling, as if trouble was near. But I still don’t know what kind of trouble it is.

I listen to the house settle. I hear a loud owl outside of my window. It wasn’t there before, was it? I can never remember what I hear at night. I hear the floor boards in the hallway creak.

“Hello?” I ask, not knowing what was waiting in the darkness. There is no respond. I keep staring into the dark in front of me. I wait for something to change, but nothing does. A flash of light fills the room. My heart skips a beat. Maybe a car passed by, yeah. I look outside my window and see an empty street with no people. As if it was a ghost town. If it wasn’t head lights from a passing car, then what was it? I slowly get up from my bed and walk carefully down the hall. I look around every corner of the house for an answer. There really isn’t a solution for that strange light I saw.

The next night was the same, that strange light, the creaking in the hallway. It happened the next night as well. I decided to write down the time these events occur. I have done just that, the next night I heard the creaking at 12:03 AM, and saw the flash of light 6 minutes later.

I kept recording it in a notebook for a week. It was the same thing every night. I would go to bed at 12:00 and then I would hear the creaking 3 minutes after that, then after 6 minutes, I see the flash. Every night, after these events, I would fall into a deep sleep.

The next day, I stayed up. Everything was the same, the creaking, and the flash, nothing different. What I didn’t know, was what was after those events. I had seen something so unexplainable, so unearthly. This is what happened…

I had gone to bed at 12:00, as always. I planned to stay up tonight. I sat on my bed and waited. I started to hear the creaking. Then I saw the flash of light. Now, I just have to wait. I became tiresome, but I stayed up. I looked at the time, 2:32 AM. I sighed, I wished for something to happen. At 3:51 exactly, my wish was granted. Something happened. I saw something peak through the doorway. It was a short, dark figure. I tried to make it out but I couldn’t. Its eyes began to glow a blood red. The glow allowed me to see its body. It was something I couldn’t understand. It had a large head, pale skin that seemed to be damp and wrinkled. It has skinny arms and short legs. It was an alien.

We stare at each other for many minutes. I’m in too much shock to shake or move.  My eyes are dry from not blinking. I try to keep my vision on the alien. My eyes start to tear up, and I can’t take it anymore, so I blink. When I open my eyes again, he’s gone. I start to panic and I look around my room. I blink again, and the alien is at the end of my bed. I blink again, and he is gone again. I blink hoping he will appear, but he doesn’t. I fall asleep, knowing he isn’t coming back any time soon.
