I woke up the next morning and immediately images of last night danced across my memory. A smile spread on my lips and I stretched, kicking the blankets off my body as I did so. I sat up cross legged on my bed and I pulled my phone off charge to see that I had slept in. The time on my phone read 1:36 p.m. I also saw that I had a text from Hazel. Great.
I opened the text message and read it.
Hazel - Hey girly girl, I'll be at your place at 11.
Shit. She was here right now. Downstairs, alone, with my brother. Ugh. I didn't even want to think about what she was doing to him to try to get him to like her.
I put my phone back on my bedside table and began walking downstairs. I really wanted a shower but I didn't want to give Hazel more time to weasel her way into Oli's heart.
I walked down stairs still in my pyjamas and walked into the loungeroom. Oli and Hazel were sitting on either side of the coffee table, Hazel sitting cross legged infront of the TV and Oli opposite her slouched back against the lounge with one knee up and his arm lazily leaning on his knee and his other leg stretched out under the table beside Hazel. They were playing Scrabble. Laughing and chatting. Ugh.
I rolled my eyes at the scene, took in a deep breath and walked into the room. Oli noticed me first.
"Oh, hey there sleepy head," Oli said.
"Hi," was all I said. The anger lingering in my tone but I don't think either of them noticed.
"What did you and Andy get up to last night? You slept through a lot of the day so whatever happened last night must've been pretty exhausting," Oli said. I could tell he was worried.
"Oh, you know. He took me to a strip club and gave me a personal show. I saw more of him than you could ever imagine. We had a couple drinks, he took my V card. Very exhausting indeed," I was surprised at how easily I said that. I had a straight face and all. I can never pull off a joke like that so well. I was surprised at myself.
I focused on Oli's reaction and at first the only thing I could read from his open mouthed, wide eyed expression was shock, then it quickly turned to anger.
"Are you serious," Oli yelled pulling his keys out of his pocket and I knew why he did that. He was getting prepared to race out of the house, speed to Andy's house, and beat the shit out of him.
"No, of course I'm not serious. Did you really believe Andy would do that," I asked.
"Well, I don't really know what he's capable of," Oli said, sliding his keys back in his pocket.
Then I started to wonder; why did he have his keys in his pocket? It's not just a casual thing that he gets up, gets dressed and shoves his keys in his pocket.
"So," I started, "What have you two been up to?"
Oli knew what I was really asking; why do you have your keys in your pocket?
"Oh, we've just been watching TV, we went out for lunch, so nothing much."
"Where did you go for lunch?"
"Nowhere fancy."
I just nodded.
"Hey, um, Miah. We need to talk," Hazel half whispered.
She seemed nervous. Quite different from how she acted last night. She acted quite confident then.
"We do. Come on," I jestured to the stairs with a nod of my head.
Hazel got up and we both left and headed to my room leaving Oli completely confused and curious.
Once we both got to my room I closed the door and Hazel made her way over to my bed. She sat down on it, crossed her legs and held one of my cushions tightly to her chest. I mimicked her moves.
