The letters change people every chapter. Sorry.

I sit on A's floor, eating ramen noodles as we gossip.

"Okay," said A, who was lying on his back on his bed throwing a football up and down. "Name one girl in the grade who you would date if they were gay."

I swallow my ramen as I think. "B."

"Really?"

"Yeah, she's sarcastic and funny. She loves to make fun of people, and she's good at science."

A sits up to look at me. "You just described yourself."

I flip him off before continuing to eat my ramen. "Wait, I changed my answer."

"Hmm?"

"C."

"Oh, yeah, she's beautiful."

"Yeah, she is."

"I'd hit her, too."

"A!" I said, throwing a pillow at him. I miss, and he laughs.

"Alright. My turn," I say. "If you had to go gay for a guy, who would it be?"

"D."

"D? Ew, gross, man. He's my cousin." I think a moment. "Actually, that's adorable. I ship it."

"You do not."

"I do, and I will bring it up constantly."

A rolls his eyes at me. I simply grin innocently back.

"How's E?"

"I don't know, man, I haven't seen her in months."

"What a tradegy. You two, adorable. End of conversation."

"You're annoying."

"I am."

I love having talks like these with A. He's sweet and smart, and even though I'm into dudes, I'm only into him specifically as a friend.

"Should we watch a movie?"

I look up at A. He's half sitting up, his curly hair falling into his face. "Last time we did that, you fell asleep on my shoulder."

"I have Lord of the Rings." He says it like it's some sort of temptation, which, granted, it is. He picks up the DVD case from next to him.

I groan. "That puts you right to sleep."

"'One ring to rule them all..'" he quotes, walking toward me and waving the DVD slowly like it's some sort of magical item.

I laugh. "Fine."

He grins at me and puts the DVD in the player before plopping down next to me. "Thanks, best friend. You're the greatest pillow a guy could ask for."

"Careful, E will get jealous."

"Shut up," he groans as he presses play.
