Walking into the room, Y/N could see a vast number of spines resting neatly along the shelves. Ranging in thickness and genre, all itching to be read. The silence brought a feeling of comfort and the room had a faint aroma of coffee, which helped create the soothing atmosphere one would associate with a place like this.
Upon scanning the many shelving units that appear to go on forever, Y/N couldn't help but notice that there was no other person in sight. It was just them and the many tales confined between leather and sheets of paper. Stepping up to one of the shelves on the left, Y/N brought their hand to one of the spines and gently ran their fingers across it.
"Welcome to the Library, Madame/Monsieur." A voice softly calls out from behind one of the shelves, temporarily breaking the silence. Y/N jumps ever so slightly at the noise before turning around to the source of the voice. "Sorry for startling you. It wasn't my intention."
A young woman with short brown hair and dark green eyes emerges from behind the shelf. A thin book with a red cover is held in her hands. Somewhere in the middle, a thin sheet of yellow paper pokes out just enough to mark where she was at. She wasn't skinny but she wasn't fat either. She was more along the line that defined average and overweight. She wore a dark grey sweater over a light grey collared shirt and grey pants. The look was minimal in style and was finished with an earthy orange tie and brown shoes.
"Oh, hello. It's okay." Y/N spoke before giving a reassuring smile. "I'm Y/N by the way."
The woman smiled in return before extending a hand, "My name's Chloe."
Y/N looked down at Chloe's hand and debated shaking it for a few moments. This caused Chloe's smile to falter a little as she retracted her hand at their hesitation. "It's okay, not a lot of people do it either." The woman cleared her throat before rubbing the back of her neck. Eager to change the topic, she spoke again. "Is there anything I can help you with today?"
Y/N glanced towards the shelves before replying. "Um, do you have anything by (insert author) here?"
"Fourth row at the very end. You should find what you're looking for there." Chloe's smile returned knowing all to well that whatever Y/N was looking for would be sitting there waiting for them.
