Its been a while now. Judy watches outside the window as the farm and the manse disappear from sight. She was going away from her home and family. She only knew of the farm but nothing else from outside. She wonders where could they be headed, what will she see? More importantly why is that scary fox, Nicholas Wilde thought it would be best for her to be with him in the same cab and not with the other cab the slaves were in? She was hesitant to say anything. As she remembers from experience, foxes or other nobles don’t like being conversed by petty slaves like her. She thought remaining silent would be best but when she made a request about saying a last goodbye to her parents, he didn’t hesitated to answer, nor was he cruel to reject such thing. But she just can’t tell whether or not it would be wise to ask.
Nick notices her discomfort through her face, he begins to wonder if she’s scared or want to go back with her family. Although it would be possible to return her back to the farm with her family it also would be hard for her. After all Gideon is a cruel master to his slaves. Nick knew of these since he was making fun of them in his party he was invited in. Nick was never a party animal but its the only way to get to know other nobles. Even though they are scared of even approaching him. Nick doesn’t know what to do with her, since he never owned a slave before. He decided to talk first.
Nick: “So what is it?”
Judy: “Hmm?”
Nick: “What is it you want to say?”
Judy: “I don’t have anything to say sir.”
Nick: “Don’t be modest, I’d like to know you a bit better.”
Judy: “Well I don’t know what to say sir.”
Nick: “Just tell me what it is your thinking about. Any questions you want to ask just say it.”
Judy: “Well I don’t know, um, there seems to be a lot of questions I want to ask about. Like why would my parents suddenly tell me to go?Who are you? And why am I riding in the same cab with you?”
Nick: “Alright I’ll tell you. Your parents probably thought that you being able to get away from that place is the best course of action so that you wouldn’t have to suffer Gideon for the rest of your days. Second I’m a tax-collector, my name is Nicholas Wilde, however in the future address me as Sir or Mr. Wilde, not as master or any of that. Third I own you now and you’ll be my assistant or maid, as I mentioned earlier when we were walking across the fields, that’s why you’re riding with me.”
There was another reason why but Nick couldn’t explain it. A curiosity? or did he took a liking to this rabbit? He still could not tell what it is.
Judy: “But I thought that I was going to be sold. I also heard that you don’t take slaves.”
Nick: “I don’t but- I can’t quite tell why I did that. Maybe because I got curious about you.”
Judy: “What is there to know? I’m just a petty slave.”
Nick: “Not the way I see it.”
Judy didn’t know what it is he sees about her but since she was given permission to ask, she then let out one more question that she’s been wanting to ask.
Judy: “If you can, could you buy my family from the farm?”
Nick: “I could but only if Gideon sells them.”
Judy: “You can’t just take them?”
Nick: “No they have to be in sale before I could buy them.”
Judy: “What?”
Nick: “As of now Gideon owns them and without his permission I wont be able to buy them until he decides to sell them off.”
