Mabel and Dipper's time in california seemed to fly by because soon enough, they are both packing up for Gravity Falls once again. It was obvious that they both were really excited to head back because of how energetic they were, however, Dipper seemed less energetic and a bit sad. Their parents thought that he was just gonna miss home so they weren't concerned for him. However, he wasn't sad about leaving, he was sad because he knew that this summer wouldn't be nearly as interesting as last summer, especially without Bill.
The twins gathered their luggage and started packing up the car like they always did but with Waddles laying in the yard this time. Soon enough, the Twins were in the car, ready for the trip to the bus station. Waddles was curled up on Mabel's lap, dreaming about him and Mabel running around a colorful place together. Their parents got into the car and they started the first part of the trip to gravity falls.
Dipper didn't talk much during the car ride, he was mostly staring out of the car window, lost in thought. Mabel, on the other hand, was talking about what she wanted to do during the summer. However, Dipper wasn't listening to her, or anything. All of the noises around him were blocked out by his thoughts about Bill, he tried to repress the thoughts he had about him but he soon gave up to the voice in his head. Mabel noticed this and, being the good sister she is, kept her parents distracted by talking during the whole car ride.
A few more minutes passed before they got to the bus station. Mabel gently shook Dipper to get him out of his thoughts.
"Psst, Dip Dot, were here!" she said in a hushed tone
"Thanks..." he softly replied to her before getting out of the car to grab his luggage.
After they both unpacked and said final goodbyes to their parents, who both had to go to work, Mabel, Dipper, and Waddles were waiting at the bus stop.
"Hey DipStick, i hope you don't mind me asking this but what were you thinking about in the car?"
Dipper froze, how was he going to tell his sister that he was thinking about ways to bring Bill back? It's simple, he wasn't
"I was just thinking about all of the chaos that happened last year." Dipper said in a nonchalant tone.
Mabel nodded and looked down at Waddles, She knew he was lying but didn't want to confront him about it.
When the bus finally arrived, Mabel and Waddles both jumped on and sat in the spot her and dipper usually sat at. Dipper decided to sit in the seat across from the two, mainly so that he could look out of the window and think, Mabel seemed to realize this and left him alone.
The bus ride was mostly quiet, only the sounds of the engine and the wind filled the inside of the bus. Dipper had, once again, surrendered to the voice in his head and was left with these thoughts about Bill that, at one point, made him question his sexuality for a second. Dipper eventually fell into a dreamless sleep while thinking about the demon that once tormented him and his family.

Dipper was woken up to the feeling of Mabel excitedly shaking his shoulders.
"Dip Dot, We're here!"
Upon hearing that, he immediately woke up, grabbed his luggage and ran out of the bus, thanking the bus driver on the way out. After he ran out, he was greeted by the arms of his Grunkle Stan and the feeling of his hat being replaced He immediately looked up to see Wendy giving him his pine tree hat back to him. Soon enough, they had said hi to all of their old friends and went to the Mystery Shack to unpack. Dipper unpacked slowly while Mabel unpacked as fast as humanly possible so that she could hang out with Grenada, Candy, and Pacifica.
After Mabel's frantic unpacking, she quickly ran out of the room, leaving Dipper alone. He walked over to the door, locked it, and went back over to the window before bursting into tears. He had held these emotions in for a really long time but now that he was actually able to prove his thoughts, he couldn't hold the overwhelming feeling of loss and sadness in him anymore.
Bill was really gone forever.

After the ritual in March, Bill knew that he had to go under the radar if he wanted to destroy the world or see Pinetree and Shooting Star ever again. So, that's what he did. He hid from the world, always being ready to pounce once the absolute perfect moment arrives. And now that the twins have returned, he knew the perfect moment was coming soon.
After Bill watched Shooting Star run off to go hang out with her friends, he turned his attention to the sobbing Pinetree. He immediately started reading his mind to see why he was so sad; however, the demon was left in shock after finding out that he desperately wanted to see him again. All Bill wanted to do was just appear next to him and hug the sad Pinetree, but he knew that doing that could be catastrophic to the plan he's been preparing for since that February night. So instead of comforting him, he decided to surprise him while he was exploring the woods alone. In Bill's mind, it was simple: get a human form and walk up to him.
However, when Bill was making his human form, he failed to remember that humans aren't 9 feet tall.
