Florida, the projects
3:00pm
Janae and her mom had just moved from The Bahamas and into the projects in Florida. They lived a tough life, evictions, death threats and neglect from family members. Janae mother had finally decided to move away from all that negativity to a place where no one knows her and her child. Janae was only 10 when they had moved.
"Janae you like it" Tanya said as she finished putting the last pillow on Janae's bed "yeah mommy it makes me feel at home" Janae answered back sarcastically while slightly rolling her eyes. "Janae you know I am trying to make you feel comfortable and this attitude isn't it you need to cut it the hell out" Tanya said looking Janae in the eyes "You should be happy to get away from our toxic family and besides I just want to see you smiling, and maybe someday we'll move into a better place" Tanya said while caressing Janae's cheek with her thumb. "I'm sorry mommy" Janae said as tears rolled down her cheek hugging her mother tightly.

I got up extra early for school, I don't know why because I sure wasn't excited. I know it's gonna be hard for me to learn because I didn't leave
The Bahamas with a 3.00 and I heard the work is even harder. Anyways I got up and took and shower and got dressed. My outfit was nothing special hence the fact that we ain't have money I still had made something work. After I had finished get ready i rushed out my room and into the kitchen only to see and note and a macdonalds bag the note said "sorry I couldn't be there for your first day of school buttt I still want you to know that I love and appreciate you (mom) p.s your breakfast is on the counter" I sighed and grabbed the bag off the counter and went to the bus stop, while I was waiting 5 other kids stood 10 steps away from me, it was 3 boys and 2 girls. I avoided eye contact because I didn't feel like communicating. We got on the bus they got on first and I got on last and took my seat to the very front. "Aye who that girl Roddy" I heard Someone said from at the back of the bus pointing at me I looked back as the sun through the bus's window beat on my golden brown eyes "ion know dawg she prolly new" The other boy said shrugging. I shook my head and kept quiet.
I finally arrived to school, it was huge and there was no uniform it was different. I walked through the double door lost as hell. I didn't know where anything was at and I was scared my anxiety took over and I start to heat up and sweat while I played with my fingers as people pass and bump me until someone snapped me out of my trance "Hi you ok" a short dark skinned girl around 5'3 asked me. "Um um Yh ig" I said not making direct eye contact "no you not I could tell that your lost, you ain't even from around here huh" she said squinting her eyes "ok yeah I'm lost and i just moved into the country" I said dropping my head down "That's Alr, let's get you your schedule" she said grabbing my hand. After carrying me to the office and getting my schedule we realized that we were in the same class "my name is Ariana" she said smiling showing her pretty white teeth as she opened our class door.
Ariana and I became best friends and was together straight through 24/7 although Ariana and I didn't live close her parents still would come get me and let me spend time with her.
