An explanation is what you're probably searching for. You're most likely thinking, 'Where the hell is she going with this story?'. I can try my best to explain, but my ideas are jumbled, you might have trouble keeping up.
Imagine you live in a world. Not just any world, but a world in which monsters and creatures that hide in your closets or under you're bed are common factualitues instead of stupid myths. A world in which these creatures are proven to be real, but not yet have been accepted into the human world. These monsters are of all ages, but never age past the year they are when deceased. These monsters are banished into forests and caves, into the wild like savage beasts, as humans are afraid of what could happen if they roamed the street like any other being.
Of course, these monsters never listen, and find their ways to sneak into city after city, using disguises to lead a normal life. Some of them, just wish to be seen as an equal, while others need more than just acceptance.
Dominance.
In this world, monsters are nothing but people of the dead. They are people whom have taken the characteristics of the way they've died. They are people who didn't pass peacfully. They are people, but aren't seen as such.
These monsters cannot rest with those who drifted peacefully until they get over their fear that has come naturally with their death. That fear being the cause of their demise.

Monster description▪ White and gray features, looks almost transparent. Has the ability to dissapear completely at ones wish. Feet are never visable and makes one appear like they're floating.

Monster description▪ Reddish hair with a pale green skin tone. Branches sticking out of hair almost always, floral patter carved into arms and cheek. Another one of the monsters that are allowed to use spellcraft.

Monster description▪ Bright red eyes and hair that almost goes against gravity, along with pale orange skin that flakes away occasionally. Has the ability to secrete fire from the ends of limbs.
